Los Angeles Will Host 2028 Summer Olympics

Los Angeles, also known as “La La Land,” will host the 2028 Summer Olympics after reaching an agreement with the International Olympic Committee, according to officials.

“Hosting the Olympic and Paralympic Games for the first time in 44 years is a golden opportunity for LA,” Los Angeles City Council President Herb Wesson said in a statement on Monday, according to NBC.

This is a big step for the city in hosting a special event. Everyone loves to watch hard working individuals compete for gold, which also includes professional athletes from major sports. The passion of winning for a country can’t be taken away and LA, which first hosted the games in 1932, will have another opportunity to make an impact on communities through sports.

“In 1932 and 1984, the Olympic Games helped to transform our city for the better — not just through bricks and mortar, but through new opportunities for our communities to watch, play and benefit from sport,” Wesson said. “Over the next 11 years and beyond, we want to bring those benefits to young people across this city on an unprecedented scale.”
