Floyd Mayweather did what most people expected him to do by knocking out Conor McGregor in the 10th round earning his 50th win in a fight that was pretty entertaining.
This is a milestone for Mayweather’s career as a boxer. He came into the fight confident, prepared and patient against McGregor. He had a flawless game plan that was executed well and everyone knew Mayweather had the upper advantage over McGregor because of stamina.
“Our game plan was to take our time, go to him, let him shoot his shots early and then take him out down the stretch,” Mayweather said, according to the Boston Herald. “We know in MMA he fights for 25 minutes. After 25 minutes, he started to slow down. I guaranteed to everybody that this wouldn’t go the distance.”
McGregor look awesome in the first four rounds, using his length and quick punches to bother Mayweather. He looked like a naturally in spurts, but also went back to his MMA habits. He got points deducted for punching Mayweather in the back of his head and yet he put up a good fight. Fatigue effected McGregor a lot and lasting until the 10th round was a win for a novice boxer that came from UFC.
Both of these fighters are legends in their own way. It took a talkative but talented MMA fighter to bring out the best in Mayweather, and he delivered. He stays undefeated at 50-0 and now everyone waits on what McGregor will do next.
