4 Animated Films To Watch On Netflix

Even though we are adults, there are times we like to kick back and watch a kid’s movie we remembered from our childhood. Luckily on Netflix, they have some animated films we could watch. Here are 4 animated films to watch on Netflix.

1-Zootopia

Zootopia is a 2016 Disney film that stars Ginnifer Goodwin, Jason Bateman and Idris Elba. It’s about a bunny Judy (Goodwin) that becomes a police officer for Zooptopia, a place where animals live in harmony. But there are attacks by feral animals that Judy decides to get behind it, along with Nick (Bateman), a con artist fox.

The film came out during numerous Black Live Matters protests and the film subject matter (stereotyping between predators and prey) hits close to home. I think this is great for kids and adults alike to see the issues we face today.

2-Coraline

Coraline is a 2009 Laika stop-motion animated film based on the 2002 novel by Neil Gaiman, who stars Dakota Fanning, Teri Hatcher, and Keith David. The film is about a neglected girl named Coraline (Fanning), who moves into a new house, where she finds a key to a little door in her home, where another world like hers exist. There she meets the other mother, who looks like hers but has buttons for eyes. Coraline later learns that the other mother has sinister designs on her.

Since this is Gaiman’s work, expect a lot of weird imagery, scary moments, dark fantasy, and a really odd plot.

3-Sing

Sing is a 2016 film from Illusion Entertainment. It stars Taron Egerton, Reese Witherspoon, Seth Macfarlane, Scarlett Johansson, Tori Kelly, and Matthew McConaughey. The plot is about a group of animals entering into a singing contest, which is done to save a music theater.

This film is basically Zootopia meets American Idol. But it’s so lovely because you fall in love with the characters and hope they reached their goals. It’s also great hearing them sing; the likes of Johanssen singing Rock, McFarlane singing Sinatra and Egerton singing Elton John. You then wonder if these actors chose the wrong careers. Totally worth seeing.

4-Atlantis: The Lost Empire

Atlantis: The Lost Empire is a 2001 Disney film and it stars Michael J Fox, Cree Summer, Jim Varney and Leonard Nimoy. The plot centers around a group of explorers in 1914 to find Atlantis, meeting odd creatures and adventure on their way.

This is a severely underrated film. The plot, the animation (based on the designs of Mike Mignola, who did Hellboy), the cast and just the overall plot are incredible. Not to mention the creator created the Atlantian language and scripts, which took time and effort. People didn’t like it because there was no singing and it didn’t do well with the box office. OH PLEASE! This film is so great, you need to sit down and watch it.
