America has overcome the harshest massacres that no one expected in their life and not much as been done to prevent it. Here are the deadliest mass-shootings over the past five years, including the most recent shooting in Las Vegas Nevada with 58 dead and more than 500 injured.
At a country music concert called the, Route 91 Harvest Music Festival had over 35,000 people in the crowd. The gunman, 64-year-old Stephen Paddock left his room at the Mandalay Bay hotel and crossed over the concert and took his automatic gun with him. There is no connection to any sort of terrorist group to lead Paddock to kill these innocent random people. On CNN.com according to the sheriff, “We had no knowledge of this individual,” Lombardo said of Paddock. “I don’t know how it could have been prevented.”
Over a year ago in June, 49 were killed in a gay club in Orlando, Florida by Omar Mateen. There have been attempts to connect this shooting to terrorism. However, patrons of the club said he would try to pick up men in the past.
June 2015, Dylann Roof, 20 years old killed 9 African-American people at an Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston, South Carolina because he was racist.
July 2012, in a movie theater in Aurora, Colorado, 12 people killed and 49 injured by James Holmes, age 27. He was mentally insane and his reasoning was personal.
December 2012, Newtown Connecticut, 20 first graders killed and 6 adults killed by a 20-year-old named Adam Lanza. Lanza had a mental illness and found himself obsessed with mass-shootings.
The government needs to step in and make more gun control laws to prevent massacres. It is very unfortunate that we live in a world where it does not matter if you live in a quiet suburb or a busy city, we all are at risk of someone with an automatic gun and an untreated mental illness.
