A hard earned title granted to the top of the top players, MVP for 2019’s All-Star Game goes to Kevin Durant. Kevin Durant stunned the crowd, and enviably skilled ballers.
The iconic takeover took place on Sunday at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Captained by the one, and only LeBron James, Kevin Durant managed to beat Giannis Antetokounmpo‘s team, who was ahead of the game with 20 points.
Team Giannis lead with 38 points, 11 rebounds, and five assists. The team was ahead up until the 3rd Quarter when things really got intense. With 4:33 minutes left in the 3rd Quarter, and Team Giannis leading at 120-112, Klay Thompson scored 3 points for Team LeBron with an assist from Damian Lillard that brought the team to 115-120.
With the ball going out of bounds at the hands of Team Giannis, Ben Simmons passed the ball to Bradley Beale who scored a 3-pointer bringing Team LeBron to 118-120 which really brought up the momentum.
With only 3 minutes left in the 3rd Quarter, the game tied at 127 after a deep 3-pointer from Damian Lillard. The 3rd Quarter ended with Team LeBron leading at 132-131.
It was the final quarter that saw Kevin Durant take the final winning shots. As reported by Bleacher report:
“He connected on three triples and a mid-range while mixing in a head-turning block during the stretch. His defense picked up, but it was his silky-smooth release on a jumper that is essentially unblockable at 6’9″ that put Team Giannis away as quick as his flick of the wrist on the follow through.”
Finishing the game with Team LeBron winning 178-164 against Team Giannis, Kevin Durant earned the MVP title with a total of 31 points which consisted of 7 rebounds and 2 assists.
Klay Thompson (20 points), Kawhi Leonard (19 points) and Damian Lillard (18 points) were also among the teammates who finished in double figures.
