In 2016, 21 Savage and Metro Boomin teamed up to release the Savage Mode series’ first installment. Since then, 21 Savage released his debut album Issa Album and his 2018 LP I Am > I Was. The album made 21 a Grammy Award winner for Best Rap Song for the single ‘A lot’ featuring Fayetteville rapper, J. Cole. After the success of the first Savage Mode, fans created a petition asking the duo to release a follow-up. On Monday, 21 Savage made a surprise announcement of Savage Mode II with a trailer directed by Gibson Hazard, narrated by Morgan Freeman. ANNIVERSARY, Bryson Tiller
Bryson Tiller has made a return with his third studio album, Anniversary. Ahead of the release, the Louisville native celebrated the fifth anniversary of ‘TrapSoul’ by releasing a deluxe version featuring three extra songs. ‘Anniversary’ is Tiller’s first project since his 2017 sophomore album ‘True to Self’. In his hometown, Louisville, the singer dedicated two billboards to Breonna Taylor. Louisville is the city where Louisville Police tragically killed Taylor. In raising awareness, Tiller said, “Dear Breonna Taylor, you’ve brought the city of Louisville together as I’ve never seen before, and we will never forget you.”
My Life 4hunnud, YG
With over ten years in the game, YG has been very consistently releasing an album almost every year. His fifth studio, ‘My Life 4hunnid’, features 13 tracks with a star-studded line-up. In an interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, he said, “Tupac highly influenced the album.” Tupac was very influential in the west coast rap game before his tragic death. It’s not that far off; YG took the time to follow the rap legend musical patterns.
Who Made the Sunshine, Westside Gunn
Buffalo rapper Westside Gunn released his debut album entitled ‘Who Made the Sunshine‘. The cover art is a drawing by his 6-year-old daughter, Westside Pootie. Last month, the rapper announced he would be retiring from music in December 2020. Before the year is over, Gunn went to Twitter to let his fans know more to come before his December retirement. ‘Who Made the Sunshine‘ is out now on all streaming platforms.
