Earl of East Launches BookWorkShop in London

Earl of East is a London based fashion and lifestyle brand founded by Niko Dafkos and Paul Firmin in 2014. In their own words, “A love of fragrance and a desire to build something of our own led us to develop our own line of home fragrance products, which has since expanded from just three candles to a line that encompasses candles, incense, home mists and bath and body products, all of which are produced by us in London.”

They now sell candles, lifestyle products and homeware. On their site, you can find workshops on things like candle and terrarium making. After spots in Vogue magazine and partnerships with the likes of Lulu Lemon, Peroni and Mulberry, they have announced a brand new venture: the BookWorkShop.

The new magazine store is in its own building opposite Earl of East’s flagship store. According to Hypebeast, the space was designed using the interior design studio of Fred Rigby. The owners had sustainability in mind when creating the space and utilized recycled materials to create a unique look.

BookWorkShop will host a wide range of magazines across different specialities; fashion, travel, and architecture to name a few. According to the Earl of East website:“Along with hosting regular creative workshops, you’ll find a curated space dedicated to our favorite coffee table books, indie magazines, artwork.”

Co-owner Paul Firmin said of the store, “We believe in physical retail now more than ever. Nothing beats seeing a book or magazine in real-life, discovering a new scent, or having a conversation with someone in-store.”

Physical retail is something that has been difficult to come by as the U.K has been under lockdown for the past four weeks. On December 2, restrictions are set to ease and cities will revert to the tier system, which tier a city is in determines what kind of shops and businesses can open.

BookWorkShop was launched with this in mind and has been designed to be COVID safe.
