Amber Riley is an American actress and singer. Her most well-known role was as Mercedes Jones in the 2009–2015 Fox comedy-drama series Glee. In addition to being nominated for three Teen Choice Awards, three NAACP Image Awards, and a Grammy Award, she and the rest of the cast received a Screen Actors Guild Award for their work on the series. Riley originated the character of Effie White for Dreamgirls' 2016 West End premiere. For her performance, she was honored with the 2017 Evening Standard Theatre Award for Best Musical Performance and the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Musical. 2013 saw Riley win Dancing with the Stars season 17. Riley joined Beverley Knight and Cassidy Janson to form the musical theater supergroup Leading Ladies, which was signed to East West Records/Warner. Riley also made an appearance as a judge on BBC One's musical theater talent program Let It Shine in 2017. Songs from the Stage, her debut album, was released on November 17, 2017. She took part in both the British and American iterations of The Masked Singer.
