The Toronto rapper released his sixth studio album Certified Lover Boy as a follow-up to 2018’s Scorpion.
Drake’s new album Certified Lover Boy is finally out after its initial release back in January 2021. The album features guest appearances from Jay-Z, Future, Travis Scott, Lil Wayne, Young Thug, 21 Savage, Ty Dolla $ign, Kid Cudi, Rick Ross, Lil Baby, and Project Pat all appear on the album.
This time around there was a lot of controversial surrounding the release of the album. Just on Sunday, Kanye West drop his album DONDA after three album listening shows in Atlanta and Chicago. Many music fans felt Kanye was waiting on Drake’s release date to drop DONDA on the same day. The fuel stems from years of going back and forth.
With a star-studded feature list, Nicki Minaj offers a verbally expressed word appearance on “Papi Home.” Drake’s samples the Beatles’ “Michelle” in the first song ‘Champagne Poetry.’ The album features samples from Notorious B.I.G.’s “Life After Death Intro” to Right Said Fred hit “I’m Too Sexy.”
Before the release, Drake announced the album in August 2020 in the single “Laugh Now Cry Later” saying it would be out in January 2021. Last week, he hacked into ESPN Broadcast to revival the album’s release date. In the last days leading up, Drake reveled features and some lyrics on billboards in New York, Houston, Toronto, Chicago, Nigeria, and Los Angeles.
