Towards the Era of Electric Cars

We can all admit that the coming years will all be electric, and will force us to say goodbye to fuel/gas cars. Already we have many modes and companies selling 100% electric vehicles; to which a California- based company Lucid, founded in 2007 and led by Peter Rowlison, is rolling in its latest model Lucid Air 2024 defining the outstanding engineering behind it.

With big bucks comes big performance; a car that can reach 60 mph in 3.0 seconds, and glides around 400 miles in one charge is pretty impressive. The new Air Sapphire performance model amazes us also with a claimed 60 mph under 2.0 seconds. Lucid has definitely upgraded their levels in performance with these models.

Battery and Range

So with these models, Lucid is all about range. The Air has the longest range of any electric vehicle in the market; the base Air Pure range is estimated around 410 miles, while the mid-range Touring is estimated to go up to 425 miles per charge. The Grand Touring and the Grand Touring Performance offers up to 516 and 469 miles respectively as said on Lucid's website; making Lucid Air the longest range electric vehicle.

So with these models, Lucid is all about range. Charging up these models is super-fast too, when plugged intofast charging, this vehicle is able to charge up to 300 miles in only 21 minutes.

The base model comes with a single electric motor and rear-wheel drive, producing up to 480 horsepower. All superior models have dual electric motors providing all-wheel drive, producing from 516 up to 1050 horsepower. The new Lucid Air Sapphire has three electric motors providing insane acceleration performance and boasts up to 1234 horsepower. Top speed? Lucid claims a top speed of 200 mph.

Luxury? No we are talking Royal. The Air is designed to be a luxury car, its interior exudes the feeling of royalty, and is made up of the finest materials with enhanced technology; making it one of the top-grade models in the electric cars space. The company provides premium space for passengers which is a key highlight in the pictures on their website. The glass roof allows you to immerse yourself in the air as you drive, making the model’s name a perfect selection. The Sedan offers a generous amount of storage space in the front of the vehicle also.

Lucid offers a sophisticated infotainment system, made up of a large upper touchscreen digital gauge cluster and a lower touchscreen tablet with various additional functions.

The system is also equipped with an AI assistant that learns the user's music preferences, climate settings and a special voice recognition feature that responds to natural speech patterns. In addition to these leading features, the Air also has physical toggles on the steering wheel, to adjust the climate and fan speed as well as the volume of the audio system.

Every Lucid Air is equipped with the DreamDrive system which includes forward collision warning, front and rear automatic emergency braking, front and rear cross traffic warning, blind spot warning, lane departure warning, automated parking controls, parking sensors, driver inattention warning and adaptive cruise control. Lucid offers leading drivers' assistance technology, in addition to this the company is still working on Level 3 self-driving functionalities which will be available within the upcoming releases.
