A HOUSE OF DYNAMITE Premieres at NYFF with Star-Studded Red Carpet at Alice Tully Hall

A House of Dynamite, directed by Academy Award Winner Kathryn Bigelow and written by Noah Oppenheim, opened stateside at the New York Film Festival on September 28, 2025, anchoring the Main Slate at Alice Tully Hall.

The NYFF premiere was the film’s North American debut, following its Venice bow earlier that month. There, it drew 11 minutes of applause from the auditorium.

At the festival, organizers slotted the film for maximum visibility, pitting its taut story against late-night Manhattan. The plot follows a scramble through back channels after an unidentified missile barrels toward the U.S.

The ensemble features Idris Elba as the President, Rebecca Ferguson as Captain Olivia Walker, and Gabriel Basso as Deputy National Security Advisor Jake Baerington. Each is pressed to the hilt by chaos that never leaves the screen.

Idris Elba arrived looking sharp in a black suit and tie. His 23-year-old daughter, Isan, joined him in a glamorous, shimmery black dress. Other stars of the movie on the red carpet included Anthony Ramos, Greta Lee, Jared Harris, Jason Clarke, Moses Ingram, Renee Elise Goldsberry, Tracy Letts, and Willa Fitzgerald.

The NYFF premiere featured a strong showing from the crew, including Executive Producers Brian Bell and Sarah Bremner, Director of Photography Barry Ackroyd, Costume Designer Sarah Edwards, and Casting Director Susanne Scheel. Co-Producers Jeremy Hindle, Sumaiya Kaveh, and Luca Borghese brought a steady hand, guiding the story to sidestep bombast and drill down into the human cost of chaos.

The screening concluded with an engaging Q&A with the cast and crew.

​A House of Dynamite landed in UK theaters on October 3 and will hit U.S. theaters on October 10 before detonating globally on Netflix on October 24.
