Bow Wow is done with relationship goals, and his explanation is pretty simple. The 38-year-old rapper and TV host hopped on the Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast and made it clear he’s not walking down anybody’s aisle. In his mind, single life fits him better than any wedding ring ever could.

Why did Bow Wow say he’s not getting married?

On the Dec. 2 episode, Bow Wow broke down exactly why he wants no parts of marriage. He said his work and personality don’t match the structure that comes with being somebody’s husband. He explained that he’s constantly around people, especially women, and that any partner would have to be “mentally tough” to deal with the groupies and attention that come with his job.

“For me it's better for me to be single. I got all the time for my babies. I like my time,” Bow Wow said. “When I'm working—like, right now, don't be calling me right now. I'm in a f***ing interview. Like, I'm working. Like, leave me the f**k alone. I get irritated. So I'm better just being by myself and, 'Yo, let's go do this Tuesday.' I like having my time, and I'm selfish with me.”

And while he’s swearing off marriage, Bow Wow is committed to fatherhood. He has a daughter, Shai, born in 2011 with dancer and influencer Joie Chavis. He also has a younger son, Stone, with Instagram model Olivia Sky.

The rapper has previously talked about how seriously he takes co-parenting. In a 2021 interview with The Shade Room, he said he doesn’t even like the term “baby mama” and instead calls Joie and Olivia his “children’s moms.”

“My kid’s moms — you see I don’t even like to say baby mama or baby mother —my children’s moms they can call me for anything,” he told the co-hosts. “Imma get it done. If they are out of town, if they are in Miami, they need something, they wanna go out, no matter what it is. If it’s a function going on, they need to get in with their girls, Imma set it up. Sections done, bang, there it is. We family. I think that’s important.”

Bow Wow has a complicated dating history.

Things with the mothers of Bow Wow’s children have not always been smooth, and his co-parenting drama has played out online more than once. When rumors first swirled that he had a son with Olivia Sky, he stayed quiet at first. According to the Atlanta Black Star, fans pieced things together from social posts until he finally confirmed Stone as his child in 2020. He later said that the “paternity drama” would play out on Growing Up Hip Hop: Atlanta.

In March, Bow Wow faced backlash after telling The Morning Hustle that he didn’t know Joie Chavis had been displaced during the Los Angeles wildfires — despite the fact that their daughter lives there. Bow Wow pushed back on the idea that he doesn’t step up, saying he and Joie still have a solid bond. “She knows anything she needs, I’m always a call away. Like, that’s my dawg right there. She hold it down, she been holding it down,” he said, per The Shade Room.
