The London pavement hummed with that edge-of-autumn nervous excitement when they unspooled a velvet rope for “The Woman in Cabin 10”'s Netflix movie debut night this September 2025. The movie is one of the most anticipated thrillers that the streamer is releasing in its new movies lineup this fall.

Keira Knightley, elegant and stoic; Guy Pearce, in casual velvet; Hannah Waddingham with her laughter ringing over the crowd; and the always-intense Daniel Ings, among other stars, posed before Netflix’s step-and-repeat backdrop. David Ajala, one of the film’s Black stars, let his vivid cobalt blue suit do the talking.

A Luxury Yacht Murder Mystery

Director Simon Stone introduced Ruth Ware, the author of the original novel, before the movie screening. The film, the work of producers Debra Hayward and Ilda Diffley, cleaves close to the source material.

Knightley’s Lo Blacklock, a travel reporter quick to spot trouble, boards a superyacht and finds herself pinned in by steel hulls and damp suspicion after she appears to glimpse a murder nobody else will own up to seeing. She sets out on her own to unmask the killer, diving into intrigue as the ship veers from smooth sailing to barely controlled chaos.

The film pulls Ruth Ware’s tense premise into a lean cinematic stitch: unreliable perspective, claustrophobia, gaslighting, and the slow ratcheting of paranoia.

A Beautifully Shot October Thriller

Stone worked in lockstep with Joe Shrapnel and Anna Waterhouse to squeeze every drop of suspense out of the book. One early reviewer’s take: “It is so beautifully shot but it is also so scary!”

Netflix is being deliberate here — a big-budget October thriller to goad viewers into streaming at suppertime. The film's impressive cast also includes Art Malik, David Morrissey, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, and Kaya Scodelario, alongside Amanda Collin, Christopher Rygh, Gitte Witt, John MacMillan, Lisa Loven Kongsli, Paul Kaye, and Pippa Bennett-Warner.

"The Woman in Cabin 10" Netflix movie launched on the streaming platform on October 10.
