Get ready with me. We’re going to a party. It’s not just any party, though. This is the premier party of the season. Everything is VIP and top shelf with good times and great vibes. No stress, no worries, no cares. Just you, your people, and the memories that y’all make. It’s the POSH Day Party, and it’s all courtesy of ExecEventz.

Founded by Damien Gilyard and his best friend Jay, the POSH Day Party experience was born out of the pair hosting parties in the backyard. From kickbacks to barbecues to get-togethers with friends, it was a birthday party for Jay that made the duo start to seriously think about where they could take their talents. “We started doing that around 2015, 2016, and there wasn’t a lot going on in New York City,” says Gilyard, remembering how ExecEventz and the POSH Day Party were birthed. “We started having birthday parties and just regular parties in the backyard, and before we knew it, all of these people started coming out and having a good time. They kept saying, ‘Y’all should throw parties, y’all should throw parties,’ so Damien and Jay decided to listen. “I remember seeing the crowd for Jay’s birthday party — like, I still have videos of it — and I remember saying, ‘Oh…we should throw parties.’”

Taking their partygoers’ suggestions seriously, the duo tapped into their own passion for putting on a good show and their power to bring out the people en masse. Fueled by the fact that the LGBTQ community deserved an elevated experience that they could enjoy, Damien and Jay decided to try a little hocus pocus in 2017. “We decided to have a Halloween party at the Pepsi Cola House,” says Gilyard. “It was a success. From then on, the rest is what you see now.”

That Halloween party gave way to the creation of the ExecEventz signature POSH Day Party. Now running annual tours, the POSH Day Party caters to what the community has been calling for, with every detail meticulously combed through to ensure that each and every event is as executive as possible. “The POSH Day Party Tour that we threw in 2023 was amazing,” says Gilyard. “We created an elevated experience, going from city to city, and every time we left a city, people were asking us to come right back. And that’s always our goal. We want people to leave and say, ‘Oh, I wanna come back to this!’” Fresh off the success of the 2023 tour — with the Toronto (ring Caribana Weekend) and Dallas (during Juneteenth) events noted as the most influential — The POSH Day Party 2024 Tour has been in full swing since January, ready to go even higher. “We’re creating this space where people can feel safe. They can come and have unmatched vibes from any other party they’ve been to,” Gilyard says. “They can come in and be who they are in the LGBT community. This is something where people in these cities keep wanting us to come back.” So much so that the POSH Day Party Tour has made quite a name for itself, building an influencer following that’s influential in its own right.

“Doing these parties for our community naturally built our following, and with that comes some notable behind-the-scenes regulars in the entertainment industry,” says Gilyard. “Hairdressers, stylists, makeup artists, and managers of certain artists.” Oftentimes, these attendees bring their clients with them, who are very impressed and want to come back themselves. The Posh Day Party even counts Sexxy Red among its celebrity performers, leaving the founders in awe.

In the world of LGBTQ events, the POSH Day Party experience takes great pride in bringing premier quality to the community. “We kicked off this year at MLK Weekend in Atlanta, and each stop on this tour is gonna kick it up another notch every time.” New cities added to the 2024 lineup include Chicago, New Orleans, and Paris, France. As part of the 2024 tour, Damien and Jay will be donating partial proceeds to the Rainbow Railroad, a Toronto-based nonprofit focused on assisting LGBTQ+ people find sanctuary from the hate-fueled violence that so many endure. “We went from throwing parties in the backyard to hosting events at some of the top venues across the globe,” says Gilyard. “Now we’re ready to take this influence and use it to leave a lasting impact on the world.”
