Mandla Morris, the son of music legend, Stevie Wonder has successfully carved a niche for himself, especially through his acting career.

Mandla lives in Calabasas with his brother, Kailand, and his mom, Kai Millard Morris, a well-known fashion designer. Little was known about Mandla before his big break into the acting world, and since then he has tried his hands in many other things including music and fashion.

The Claim to Fame and Big Break

Mandla Morris is quickly establishing himself as an entertainer. He had his first movie cameo in 2018 when he appeared in the Oscar-winning film, A Star is Born, where he played the son of a pastor.

In the same year, he also participated as a contestant in Dancing with the Stars: Juniors, where he came in fifth place.

“My father got a call from the organizers of Dancing with the Stars: Juniors, and I was like, ‘Of course I want to do this,” he said on the show.

Stevie even performed his hit song, “Isn’t She Lovely,” on the show as Mandla performed with his partner, Brightyn Brems.

His Current Roles and Projects

Mandla is looking ahead, and according to The New York Times, is also working to start a new show on Brat TV, a popular YouTube product company known for creating online series including Total Eclipse, and Chicken Girls, which attract a Gen Z audience.

What’s Next for Mandla?

Mandla hopes to follow in his parents’ footsteps, mixing fashion with music. Along with appearing in fashion campaigns, modeling, and designing his own line of “high-end streetwear,” Mandla is also hoping to release his first studio album. “Music has always been there for me," he told Paper magazine in 2020. "Watching my dad play the piano at home, or seeing him on tour or in the studio. I've always had a love for it."

He continued, “I love listening to soul. I love listening to hip-hop, but in order to really know your music, you have to study not just what you like but different genres, as well.”
