August is National Black Business Month, a time to honor and provide support to Black entrepreneurs and companies across. The yearly event was started in 2004 as a result of the collaboration of engineer Fredrick E. Jordan and historian John William Templeton, who aimed to improve the economic independence of Black communities and advance policies impacting 2.6 million African American companies. In August, we consider Black entrepreneurship's past, its effects on the US economy, and the Black community's resilience.
