The Breakdown: Both 50 Cent and Tia Kemp are no strangers to controversy. In fact, they seem to welcome it. The pair is both known for their wild comments and crazy actions online. But their connection — which includes a tell-all book and a common enemy — goes way deeper.
Controversy sells, and it’s an especially hot commodity on social media. Gossip pages and celebrities alike stir the pot on platforms like Instagram and TikTok with wild feuds, hot takes, and crazy disses.
But few people have mastered the art of controversy like 50 Cent. The rapper-turned-businessman has taken to social media with unfiltered commentary on everything from Diddy’s trial to buying out the front rows of Ja Rule’s concert.
If anyone could give 50 a run for his money in the online troll department, it’s Tia Kemp. But the pair don’t just share a penchant for social media trolling. 50 Cent and Tia Kemp have a history that goes back years. Let’s dig into their drama-filled connection.
Who is Tia Kemp?
Tia Kemp first became known in the entertainment world as rapper Rick Ross’ ex. Kemp and Ross share one son, William Robert III. But Kemp is more than a rapper’s baby mama. She’s built a career as a businesswoman and online content creator.
Kemp has been stirring up drama on social media for a few years now, with her sharp tongue, bold opinions, and vicious attacks on various celebrities. While Rick Ross gets the lion’s share of her vitriol, she’s also had online tussles with his daughter, Toie Roberts, and his ex, Cristina Mackey, as well as Ms. Netta and Chrisean Rock.
Beyond her Instagram and TikTok Live commentary, Kemp is also one of the hosts of Zeus Network’s Aunt-Tea Podcast. Her co-hosts are the equally controversial Tokyo Toni (Blac Chyna’s mother) and Karlissa Saffold Harvey (Blueface’s mom), and the trio share their opinions and perspectives on a range of topics.
How are Tia Kemp and 50 Cent connected?
Podcasts and social media aren’t Kemp’s first brush with contentious content. In 2009, she published an autobiography, Tia’s Diary Deeper Than Rap: Clarity, Truth, and Exposure. The book heavily critiqued her ex, Rick Ross, and their relationship.
It was alleged that 50 Cent had a financial stake in the book’s publication. That wouldn’t be the only time 50 gave special attention — and money — to Kemp. That same year, the rapper interviewed Kemp, spoiled her with a shopping spree, and took her and her son to meet Floyd Mayweather Jr. The pair was also featured together in a provocative photo on the cover of Smooth.
Behind the long-running beef that first brought Tia Kemp and 50 Cent together
Though we can’t say for sure what 50’s motivations for engaging with Kemp were, it’s very likely that it was related to his long-running beef with Rick Ross. The two rappers had been embroiled in a feud since 2008 when 50 told Ross not to stand too close to Fat Joe. Joe and Fifty were at odds at the time.
50 and Ross have continued to take jabs at each other over the years, and Kemp has often been featured in these clashes. For example, when Ross was attacked in 2024 by alleged Drake fans at Vancouver’s Ignite Music Festival for requesting Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” 50 didn’t miss the opportunity to troll him. In addition to his own commentary, the “Candy Shop” rapper reposted a video where Kemp said, “I’m glad they smacked the sh*t out yo big ass.”
Will the beef ever be resolved?
Back when Cardi B was still a regular on Love & Hip Hop New York, she famously said, “If a girl have beef with me, she gon’ have beef with me forever.” It seems both Tia Kemp and 50 Cent have taken that as law when it comes to Rick Ross.
50 and Ross continue to trade barbs as recently as 2025. Kemp hasn’t let up either, even undeterred by a cease and desist from Ross’ lawyers that accuse her of harassment and defamatory statements. It seems 50 and Kemp will always have their love of controversy and their hatred of Rick Ross in common.
