Rapper Boosie Badazz is no stranger to legal hurdles. Starting in the early 2000s, the MC, born Torrence Hatch Jr., was repeatedly arrested on drug charges, including possession and intent to distribute marijuana.

Despite the legal setbacks, Boosie’s music career has thrived.

He released multiple albums, including Touch Down 2 Cause Hell after his 2014 prison release, and remains an influential figure in hip-hop. However, his legal issues persisted throughout his career.

2009: Boosie goes to jail.

Boosie has had trouble with the law since his career began. Following the release of his fourth album, the rapper was sentenced to four years in prison for violating his probation, according to Billboard.

Boosie was ordered to serve probation after being arrested for drug possession a year earlier. The rapper took a plea deal in the case, which required him to be electronically monitored.

However, the ankle monitor reported that the rapper violated the terms of his release and he was ultimately sentenced to prison.

In 2010, Boosie's legal troubles escalated when authorities accused him of orchestrating a murder-for-hire plot. Prosecutors claimed he paid Michael Louding $2,800 to kill a Louisiana man, Terry Boyd, per CBS News. Although Louding told detectives Boosie was involved, prosecutors couldn't prove the allegation.

At the time, Boosie was already serving jail time for a 2009 probation violation. Ultimately, he was found not guilty of the murder charges.

2024: Boosie was indicted for charges in San Diego.

Boosie stayed away from legal trouble following his hurdles early in his career. However, in 2023 the rapper was arrested again. According to Fox 5 San Diego, Boosie was arrested by Chollas View police after he flaunted a handgun during an Instagram Live session.

Reports suggest that Boosie was in San Diego for a music video shoot and club appearance before things went south. Police arrived at the home after being notified by netizens, but Boosie fled before he could be arrested.

A police helicopter was used to track Boosie’s car, and he was taken into custody. Police found two loaded handguns in the rapper’s vehicle and charged Boosie with firearm possession. The case was ultimately dismissed, but the drama did not end there.

Weeks after a California judge tossed Boosie’s case, U.S. Attorney Tara McGrath’s office filed another indictment against the “Wipe Me Down” MC. Boosie was then charged with two counts of firearm possession.

However, Boosie has since declared his innocence. “Why you didnt charge me with that the first time? The judge has ruled,” Boosie wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter). “At this point you making this a circus. This has to be unconstitutional. This shows how far these devils will go to try n stop a successful black man with a voice. This man has a serious vendetta of hate against me.”

If convicted, Boosie could face up to 10 years in jail, according to MSN.
