“I really enjoyed it,” he said. “I think that, and I could be in the minority here. I think there's high level lyricism on the album. Yeah, I think there's flows all over the place. I think they did a real good job with whoever they picked to write for her. It also told me how important rap voices are, because Cardi is not the most articulate of people.” Cardi did not respond to Joe directly, but it wasn’t long before their beef heated up.

Joe Budden’s criticism of Cardi B did not stop after the initial release of Invasion of Privacy. A year after the album was released, Joe provided further analysis of the “Please Me” rapper’s career, and she did not take his remarks lightly. According to Urban Islandz, Joe and his podcast co-hosts had a heated discussion about Cardi’s music, with Joe suggesting that Cardi was too distracted to make real rap music.

Cardi fired back, slamming Joe for his remarks, argued that she was focused on being a mother. “These b***h a** n***as — Joe Budden and the podcast talking about ‘Cardi’s doing other things. She’s not busy worrying about hip-hop.’ Yes n***a I’m am doing other money moves,” she exclaimed. “And guess what else I’m doing n***a? I got to spend time with my child!”

Things between Joe and Cardi never settled down. In July, Joe shared his thoughts on Cardi’s to-be-released sophomore album, reigniting their beef. “We’ll never get another album again. I am standing on it,” Joe said during an episode of his podcast. He went on to suggest that the “Bodak Yellow” star would spend the rest of her career as a “single artist.”

Cardi caught wind of Joe’s remarks and took to X Spaces to call out the former rapper, while also accussing him of drug use. “Bro, I gave you a lap dance two times in [the New York strip club] Starlets. You was high as f**k. High as f**k on coke, n***a,” Cardi claimed.
