The Breakdown: Is Kevin Gates still with Dreka? The people are curious! While the Baton Rouge rhymer has long claimed he “doesn’t get tired,” we can assume that the ongoing questions regarding his wife’s whereabouts have become draining. Because of that, we’re here to provide some context and clarity on what we do know about the once-couple goals.
Kevin emerged on the rap scene in 2007 after signing with Dead Game Records, an independent label in Louisiana. Unfortunately, not long after his early projects Pick of Da Litter and All or Nuthin’, the 2 Phones superstar’s then-blossoming career came to a striking halt when he was sent to prison in 2008. However, following his stint behind bars, Kevin came out of the gates swinging with his mixtape Make ‘Em Believe.
With his tantalizing tone and ferocious flow, Kevin’s music buzzed its way to the masses. In 2013, his critically acclaimed phenomenon, The Luca Brasi Story, was released, setting the foundation for his now-mega position in the industry. His Stranger Than Fiction endeavor was the first to be unveiled in conjunction with a major imprint, Atlantic Records. Listeners immediately connected with Kevin, who’d gained notoriety for penning his pain and letting it bleed in the booth.
Late 2014 saw the coming of “I Don’t Get Tired,” one of his most successful singles to date, which spread like wildfire that year and in 2015. The hit served as a predecessor to his debut album, Islah, named after his daughter, in 2016.
Since then, he has gone on to give us four more full-lengths: I’m Him (2019), Khaza (2022), The Ceremony (2024), and I’m Him 2 (2025). Additionally, as of 2025, he has reportedly dropped 17 mixtapes.
While his dope tunes may be at the pinnacle of everyone’s playlists, many have wondered about his relationship status.
Is Kevin Gates still with Dreka? All about his controversial marriage.
Kevin married famed entrepreneur Dreka Haynes in October 2015. The pair initially got together in the early 2000s. Their daughter Islah and son Khaza were born in 2012 and 2014. Dreka is recognized as the co-founder of Bread Winners’ Association, a record label she and Kevin launched in 2010. She was also his booking manager for several years.

When speaking on their business and bond in a 2016 interview with The Source, Dreka shared: “When I first met him, he always wrote music and he was always recording, but he was just doing it in a room in his grandmother’s house. Then about 10 or 11 years ago, we were just talking one day and he told me he wanted to take it serious.”
She added, “I basically went out and read every book I could find. I went and talked to any and everyone that I could. Then again, people in the industry shut you out. So, you really end up making your own path, which is what we did.”
Throughout Kevin’s run, he and Dreka have been the poster children for boss husband-and-wife duos. So much so, that he dedicated an entire eponymous song to her in 2020. The lyrics, though, were very telling of some of the hardships the entertainment forces have endured in their union.
He rapped, “Drek, sit down / We need to talk, I’m ‘bout to break your heart / The burdens that been placed upon you, babe, that’s all my fault / Cheatin’, multiple women / I can’t keep no account.”
Kevin furthered, detailing how Dreka held him down during his incarceration and the hurt he inflicted on her: “Takin’ care of multiple women out of separate accounts / Every time I sat in the cell, you sent whatever amount / Spendin’ millions on lawyers, tryna help get me out.”
Things (seemingly) took a weird turn and raised a few eyebrows when Kevin unleashed his “Super General” freestyle, a remix of Kodak Black’s “Super Gremlin,” in 2022. Around that time, he was rumored to have been romantically involved with Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood’s Jojo Zarur, as they’d been captured on each other’s Instagram Stories and out eating dinner together.
Kevin stirred the pot when he sent a diss to Dreka on the track, citing: “Took the blame in interviews and made it look like I was trippin’ / Made the ‘Dreka’ song, lied to the world tryna protect her image.”
He expanded in the verse, indicating that Dreka had been unfaithful, “Tell me you love me, I say it back / Back in my mind, I’m indifferent / Brought this infiltrator to the farm, hurt my heart, what am I missin’? / You a man, step out yo’ bedroom, see that standin’ in yo’ kitchen.”
Not long after, he appeared on an episode of Yung Miami’s REVOLT podcast, Caresha Please, and when asked about whether he and Dreka had called it quits, he said: “That’s my best friend, so, no matter what, she gon’ always be my best friend. Like, I love this woman with everything in me.”
Later in the conversation, he denied accusing Dreka of stepping out on him in his “Super General” song, alluding that the lyrics were misinterpreted.
By 2023, fans were even more confused when Kevin included Dreka in his uber-viral music video for “Breakfast,” where they were smiling from ear to ear, exchanging smooches, and boo’d up in the snow. For viewers, the chemistry was undeniable, as was the love when Kevin stated in the song that he was “trying to put his family back together.”
In 2024, in response to the assumptions surrounding Kevin and Dreka’s distance from the limelight, Dreka told The Baller Alert Show host Ferrari Simmons that “there was really no separation” and faulted herself for focusing on the “business manager” role more than her duties as a wife.
Why do people think Kevin Gates and Brittany Renner are dating?
In March 2025, Kevin Gates and Brittany Renner shook the table when they arrived at YouTuber/rapper DDG’s livestream together. But the alleged couple knew each other long before the joint sighting on the broadcast. Brittany was featured in Kevin’s “Bad for Me” video in 2022 and mentioned in a couple of bars of “Super General.”

Per HotNewHipHop, the suspected couple actually had a steamy conversation on X (formerly Twitter) around 2022 as well, passing sexual advances and flirtation across the timeline that led many to believe something was going on.
A clip from that same year of Brittany interviewing Kevin at Rolling Loud, where she looked like she was fangirling over the celebrated artist, has been floating around the internet, too.
Clearly, the situation has been heating up for quite a while. Along with their simultaneous pull-up to DDG’s house, suspicions deepened in March 2025 when Kevin was seen posted up with the socialite in the car, singing the words to Soul For Real’s 1995 track “Candy Rain.”
Kevin and Brittany’s apparent history also made her conversion to Islam in 2024 a topic of discussion, as social media users began to wonder if Kevin (who’s Muslim) was the motivation behind it.
