Who is J. Ryan La Cour?

J. Ryan was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, and got his first peek into the music industry from his mother. He was introduced to the entertainment industry when he was a baby and whilemusic became a true passion, acting came naturally to him and presented him with more opportunities. J. Ryan began his acting career in high school, working on several Disney projects but still remained true to his passion for music. He was a member of a music group during his high school years but left the group after graduation because he wasn’t feeling the “starving artist” vibes and decided to let his jobs fund his dreams. J. Ryan eventually landed a job as an A&R at Atlantic Records.

As he stayed in the entertainment vein, J. Ryan also jumped into PR marketing and brand consulting for UK clothier companies such as boohooMan. He also worked with celebrities like Kylie Jenner, Rick Schrimer, and others in talent relations, management, and personal branding. He’s most known for his friendships with Karreuche Tran, Teyana Taylor, Angela and Vanessa Simmons, Rob Kardashian, and more. In 2012, Fly Life PR was born and over time the “Fly Guy” returned to his first love: music. He’s blessing the world with his new project Now U Know.

What are your biggest musical influences in and outside R&B?

Ginuwine, Usher, Missy Elliot, Timbaland, Selena, *NSYNC, and Aaliyah.

Walk me through your creative process when it comes to writing and producing R&B music.

It starts with a vibe. His signature style is catchy hooks and feel-good music, which is definitely heard throughout his album Now You Know. This album has all the feels of the 90’s with a peak into the life of the man behind the music.

Usher and Lil Baby.

What advice do you have for Aspiring Artists?

Work while working on your artistry. Utilize the criticisms and don't allow it to shape you. Lastly, be a hitmaker then focus on your passion projects.
