For British-Nigerian artist Samm Henshaw, growth doesn’t mean reinventing himself—it’s about rediscovery. Fresh off the release of Find My Love featuring longtime friend Tori Kelly, Wills spoke with Bleu Magazine about reconnecting creatively, drawing from his roots, and embracing a new chapter in his career.

“London is such a diverse scene,” Wills shared when asked about how his upbringing shaped him. “I think a lot of the influences I’ve been raised on have been a mixture of things. Being Nigerian definitely plays a big part in that, but it’s never something I overthink—I just live it.”

That effortless authenticity extends to his latest single, Find My Love, a breezy yet soulful record that reunites him with Kelly after years of friendship. “We’ve been in touch since around 2016,” he said. “She’s always been good people—someone who’s given me advice and just supported me. Having her in the studio was so easy. There was nothing pretentious about it—just good vibes.”

The collaboration was years in the making. Wills admits the song sat tucked away until now felt like the right moment. “We’d been working on this album for a while,” he explained. “It just felt like the best way to start things off and get people ready for what’s next. I also got fed up with not putting stuff out—it was time.”

As Henshaw enters what he calls a new era, he describes this moment as one of artistic confidence. “My taste has changed a lot, and that informs the music you’ll hear on the record,” he said. “I feel more confident in myself and in taking approaches I might not have before.”

Emotion remains his guiding compass. “The most important thing for me is that music evokes a feeling,” he said. “Everything I create comes from emotion. If it doesn’t move me, I don’t want to release it.”

Having worked alongside icons like Pharrell, Quincy Jones, EarthGang, and Chance the Rapper, Wills says the biggest lessons haven’t come from music itself, but from observing their character and work ethic. “It’s more about how they carry themselves,” he said. “Pharrell, for example, is doing ten things at once—still present, still creative, still taking care of his family. That’s inspiring.”

Now 31, Wills finds fulfillment beyond numbers and charts. “I’m not too phased by accolades anymore,” he reflected. “I just thank God that I get to wake up and create every day. That’s success to me.”

As his career takes him across continents, one memory still gives him chills—performing in Tokyo. “It was mad,” he laughed. “Walking around, getting recognized, and doing it all with my friends—that was special.”

Asked what color Find My Love would be, Wills smiled. “Blue,” he said. “It feels light, floaty—like you’re on a cloud.”
