On 7th May, Grammy-nominated hip-hop artist Ja Rule and Sei Less Restaurant collaborated to host a special Mother’s Day luncheon to celebrate and elevate 40 mothers (and their children) that have been adversely affected by the criminal justice system.
Presenting a diverse Asian Fusion menu, the Sei Less Restaurant, located in Manhattan, witnessed the co-founder Ivi Shano partner with Ja Rule in treating the mothers to an array of their most famous cuisines, such as filet mignon and chicken satays, rock shrimp tempura and veggie lo mein.
Forging an alliance with The Ladies of Hope Ministries and REFORM, the event encapsulated a memorable yet informative experience for all attendees. The message of the event was rooted in the organization's objectives, committed to empowering women to create sustainable lives post-incarceration. Propelling change in the social justice movement, the organization works to connect people to housing, food, healthcare, living wage employment, entrepreneurship opportunities, education and more. REFORM specifically commits to transforming probation and parole throughout the United States by altering laws, systems and culture. Endeavoring to replace America’s criminal justice system, REFORM immerses in a restorative approach that is just, accountable and invested in rehabilitation.
In regards to the acclaimed Sei Less, say no more. Established in January 2022, the NYC restaurant has quickly emerged as a celebrity hotspot for the biggest names in music, sports and entertainment. Hosting a roster of notable figures, Sei Less has built rapport with Cardi B, Kevin Hart, Mark Wahlberg, Travis Scott and Ice Spice, to name a few.
While the allure of glitz and glamor makes it a captivating space, Sei Less has remained attuned to giving back to its community through philanthropic efforts, such as their collaboration with Lola Brooke’s Thanksgiving to Children of Promise, in Brooklyn 2023.
Sei Less co-owner Dara Mirjahangiry’s partnership with Lola Brooke showcased their expertise and indulged the young attendees, also touched by the criminal justice system, in a banquet of delights prepared by the Sei Less restaurant.
