These schools join 11 others nationwide already offering the course, giving thousands of college athletes—and students in general—the opportunity to graduate with not just a degree, but also essential financial skills to manage their Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) income, build savings, and prepare for life after graduation.
A Different Kind of Financial Education
Unlike most financial literacy initiatives, Money Drills is a for-credit, professor-led course open to all students. By embedding financial education into the academic curriculum, the program ensures that financial literacy is not treated as an optional workshop, but rather as a core part of the college experience.
The course has already demonstrated measurable impact:
- 96% of Money Drills participants report being better at managing their personal finances after completing the class.
- Nearly 3 in 4 students expressed a desire to learn more about taxes, investing, and debt management—all topics covered in the curriculum.
- Nationally, more than 40% of college students have less than $1,000 in emergency savings, while nearly half carry credit card debt. For student-athletes navigating NIL deals, these financial challenges can be especially pressing.
Beyond the Classroom
Robinhood is also extending Money Drills to the professional level through a new partnership with Pro Athlete Community (PAC). This initiative supports financial and professional development coursework, offering executive certification opportunities through the University of Miami.
In addition, Robinhood has announced a multi-year partnership with Stanford Athletics, marking its first collegiate athletic sponsorship. This deal adds to a growing sports portfolio that includes OGC Nice, 23XI Racing, Washington Wizards, Miami HEAT, and the Memphis Grizzlies.
With the expansion of Money Drills, Robinhood is investing in the next generation of leaders, giving student-athletes and professionals alike the financial literacy tools to secure their futures.
