We start the new year off with some projects released just before 2020 concluded. Check out new music from Lil Durk, Playboi Carti, and more.
The Voice, Lil Durk
Claiming himself as “The Voice” of the streets, Lil Durk released his sixth studio album entitled The Voice. In honor of late rapper King Von, Lil Durk paid tribute with a photo of him and Von as the cover art. Before the release, Durk released a visual to his single “Backdoor,” a tribute to the late King Von.
For the Streets, Rubi Rose
Surprising her fans on Christmas Day, Rubi Rose dropped her debut mixtape For the Streets. After making an appearance in the “WAP” video, fans took notice of the Atlanta rapper. Having Cardi B as a co-sign helped boost the anticipation of her debut project. She inserted an audio clip of Cardi’s compliment in the “Intro/Cardi B Interlude.”
Whole Lotta Red, Playboi Carti
After a two-year hiatus, Playboi Carti is back with his second studio album Whole Lotta Red. After dropping “@MEH” in April, many fans speculated an album was coming soon. During the week of Christmas, Carti announced the date of the album via Twitter and Instagram. Many commentators have said the rapper took a different route musically on this latest project.
Well Done Fever, Tyga
The Well Done mixtape series gave Tyga notoriety in the earlier stages of his career. Well Done Fever is the fourth installment to the mixtape series. Last Monday, Tyga released a visual to the tape’s opening track, “For the Night.” It has been a very interesting year for Tyga. In November, he launched his modeling agency for models who want to get on OnlyFans.
A Gift and a Curse, Tink
After being set free from her record label this past February, Chicago artist Tink released her new EP, A Gift and a Curse. The seven-song project features singles “CAP” and “Motives.” For those who don’t know, Tink was singed to Timberland’sMosely Music Group. Through the ups and downs, she felt the need to break free.
