Don’t call it a comeback – The app Snapchat‘s philanthropy team is kicking off the 2022 spring and summer seasons with the Snap Academies application cycle.
The Snap Academies are summer educational programs for community college students hosted by Snap Inc., the makers of Snapchat. Those accepted get the opportunity to learn from team members at Snap Inc., connect with Snap mentors, develop a portfolio and network, and refine their professional skills.
The Snap Academies are ambitious programs designed to provide meaningful career opportunities to Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) communities and other groups who have been historically disconnected from equal opportunity in the tech sector such as women, community college students, and youth who may have experienced homelessness, foster care, or the juvenile justice system. Through these programs, they strive to prepare our young scholars for careers that may have been otherwise inaccessible to them.
This year, there will be four hands-on, nine-week, Snap Academies, for students currently enrolled in community college, to further their design, engineering, marketing, or augmented reality skills. Those selected will receive an academy scholarship to participate in custom, creative and technical workshops, fireside chats, and mentorship with Snap Inc. employees. The Academies offer you new skills, a portfolio of work, a lifelong network of friends and supporters, and unforgettable memories from your summer with Snap! All Academies will start on June 13, 2022, and culminate with a final showcase on August 12, 2022.
