The Breakdown: Clipse is making a major comeback with Let God Sort Em Out, their first album in over a decade.

Hip-hop fans are in a frenzy because Clipse has officially announced Let God Sort Em Out, their first album in about 15 years. Clipse’s reunion album comes with decades of history behind it. Since their 2002 breakthrough, the Virginia brothers have built a reputation as true hip-hop heads.

In the 2000s, they dropped three acclaimed albums—Lord Willin’, Hell Hath No Fury, and Til the Casket Drops — plus the classic We Got It 4 Cheap mixtapes. Lord Willin’ produced “Grindin’” and “When the Last Time,” both Top 40 singles. After 2010, No Malice took a spiritual detour, producing two Christian rap albums. While Pusha T signed with Kanye’s G.O.O.D. Music and eventually Roc Nation, releasing a string of solo records.

Now, the brothers are back and ready to drop a new Clipse album. Here is everything we know about the project, its features, and when it will be available.

Clipse’s new album will feature hip-hop heavyhitters. When is the release date?

Let God Sort Em Out is set to arrive on July 11 via Roc Nation Distribution. Clipse previewed the Pharrell Williams–helmed project in a cinematic trailer, complete with Mike Tyson and Marge Simpson clips. They also released their lead single “Ace Trumpets” on May 30. According to press notes, Pharrell provides a “sparse, kinetic sonic backdrop” for the brothers’ “vivid, venomous tales of street enterprise.” Meanwhile, the album’s artwork is designed by artist KAWS, who also did Til the Casket Drops in 2009.

Clipse has hinted at an all-star lineup. In a GQ interview, Pusha confirmed that Kendrick Lamar will appear on the track “Chains & Whips.” Clipse has also teased potential features from Nas and R&B star John Legend, along with Virginia’s own Stove God Cooks.

All recording took place at Louis Vuitton’s Paris headquarters. GQ praises the album’s production as “spare, synthy and hard-hitting,” the most locked-in work Pharrell’s delivered in years. However, no tour dates have been announced. Bands In Town currently lists no scheduled Clipse concerts in 2025. That suggests we could see a tour or festival run later this summer or fall, once Let God Sort Em Out officially drops.

Dej Jam had issues with Kendrick’s verse on Clipse’s new album.

In an interview with GQ, Pusha T revealed that Clipse's departure from Def Jam was triggered by the label's objection to Kendrick Lamar's feature on Let God Sort Em Out. "Chains & Whips" was reportedly the first song recorded for the album. However, Def Jam was concerned about potential backlash due to ongoing tensions involving Kendrick Lamar and Drake. The label ultimately requested that Kendrick's verse be censored or removed.

“They wanted me to ask Kendrick to censor his verse, which of course I was never doing,” Pusha said. Following a month-long standoff, Def Jam offered to release Clipse from their contract. Pusha T, who was also signed as a solo artist, negotiated for both his solo and group releases.
