Famed entertainer Jamie Foxx is back and seemingly better than ever following a health scare in April 2023.
His daughter, Corrine Foxx, took to Instagram to share an update with fans as the Academy Award winner faced a “medical complication.” Jamie was filming for the movie, Back In Action, when the incident occurred, and he was quickly rushed to a hospital.
“We wanted to share that my father, Jamie Foxx, experienced a medical complication yesterday,” Corrine shared (via The Hollywood Reporter).
The Beat Shazam star added: “Luckily, due to quick action and great care, he is already on his way to recovery. We know how beloved he is and appreciate your prayers.”

A month after Jamie was hospitalized, rumors began to circulate about the actor’s medical condition.
Corrine took to social media to dispute claims that the family was “preparing for the worst” and revealed that Jamie was, instead, on the mend.
“Sad to see how the media runs wild. My Dad has been out of the hospital for weeks, recuperating,” she explained (via People.)
In July 2023, Jamie made his return to the public eye with a video message shared to his Instagram.
In the clip, Jamie recalled suffering through a horrific medical emergency that nearly killed him. "I went through something that I thought I would never ever go through," Jamie said.
He added: “To be honest with you, I just didn't want you to see me ... with tubes running out of me and trying to figure out if I was going to make it through."
Jamie did not disclose the reason for his hospitalization, but he did take time to dispel rumors about his condition. He denied reports that he was blind and also shot down claims that he was paralyzed.
However, Jamie went on to reveal that he could not walk six months prior to appearing in the update video.

Jamie’s professional career has also not missed a beat. In 2023, he appeared in The Burial, and They Cloned Tyrone. His most recent film, Back In Action, is set to be released in 2024.
While Jamie has not shied away from the public eye since recovering from his illness, the actor has yet to explicitly reveal the cause of his sudden hospitalization.
The cause of Jamie's mystery illness is still unknown. At the time, sources told CNN that doctors were “running tests and still trying to figure out what exactly happened."
