The empire previously established by Diddy is falling, and many of the mogul’s ventures are crumbling in the wake of allegations made against the entertainer.
On March 26, TMZ reported that Diddy – whose real name is Sean Combs – sold his stake in REVOLT TV. The news came as Diddy’s homes in Los Angeles and Miami were being raided by Homeland Security. Reports suggest that the raid was connected to a federal human sex trafficking investigation.
In video obtained by Fox11, officers are seen swarming Diddy’s homes and removing potential evidence. Meanwhile, Diddy was quietly orchestrating the sale of his stake in REVOLT.
Diddy launched the television network in 2013 and it has since grown to include digital properties, podcasts, and more. Diddy removal from the company was shocking to some, as the “Last Night” rapper played an integral role in popularizing the hip-hop platform.
Now that Diddy’s out, REVOLT has a new owner. The transition marks a new chapter for the network, which has been a prominent voice in urban culture and music since its inception. Here’s everything we know about the newly appointed leader of REVOLT.
Who owns REVOLT TV network now?
Sources told TMZ that Diddy and REVOLT had been planning to sell off his shares. After all, Diddy has been distancing himself from the network for some time now.
In November 2023, REVOLT announced that the music mogul was stepping down from his position as chairman following a lawsuit filed by Cassie. With Diddy's departure from the company, speculation is brewing about the identity of REVOLT's new owner.
The identity of the new purchaser of REVOLT has yet to be formally announced, but Page Six reported that former Shea Moisture CEO Richelieu Dennis will be the new owner of the television network.
“The deal is already done, and they are getting ready to announce it in the upcoming days,” a source said. “But of course, now, with the raid and everything else going on, it will appear as though he is purchasing after the fact.”
The insider further suggested that Diddy insisted that the potential buyer was Black to uphold “the legacy of having a Black-owned business.”
Who is the CEO of REVOLT?
Since 2021, Detavio Samuels has served as the CEO of REVOLT. Detavio first joined the media company in 2020 as the chief operating officer before being promoted, according to his LinkedIn profile.
Under Detavio’s leadership, REVOLT created programming like REVOLT x Michelle Obama: The Cross-Generational Conversation, Caresha Please, and The Jason Lee Show. It is unclear if REVOLT will continue producing its current slate of content.
REVOLT’s chief brand officer, Deon Graham, is also expected to remain onboard – for now. Deon has been working with Diddy since 2009, having first served as a digital consultant for Combs Global. Deon oversees branding Diddy’s Bad Boy Worldwide Entertainment Group, Sean John, Combs Wine & Spirits, and AQUAhydrate.
