Behind every iconic artist stands a team of creative minds shaping their success. While Drake has long been in the spotlight for his chart-topping hits, there's one figure who has remained by his side – his longtime collaborator, Noah "40" Shebib. Despite working behind the scenes, 40's played a pivotal role in helping to create some of Drake’s biggest hits.
40 is also a Toronto native, but his journey to becoming one of hip-hop's most sought-after producers was not without its challenges. He was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) at a young age and has faced both physical and emotional obstacles. He crossed paths with Drake in the early 2000s, and the two later became musical partners.
“I won the lottery,” 40 told Rolling Stone. “So I often tell people, ‘The music business is something like the lottery. If you win it, fucking great, but lots of people don’t win.’ That’s why I can’t sit there and be like, ‘My talent is the reason I’m here.'”
However, 40 and Drake’s friendship has come into question following the “One Dance” rapper’s various hip-hop feuds. For those wondering, here is an update on Drake and 40’s partnership.
Are Drake and 40 still friends? The OVO co-founders' friendship explored.
40 has openly discussed his battle with MS. During a 2020 interview with Rolling Stone, the mega-producer recalled an incident that required him to be wheeled out of a Drake show. 40 “crashed and burned” on the Toronto rapper’s tour and had to end his time on the road early.
In 2023, Drake shared a grim update about 40’s health, asking fans to send prayers to his friend and longtime collaborator.
“My brother hasn’t been feeling well,” Drake said during a performance in Los Angeles (via X). Adding, “I want to send him some love from this whole building because I believe that energy is exchanged.”
While it’s clear that Drake and 40 are still friends, the status of the producer’s health is unknown. 40 regularly shares posts on his Instagram but has not provided fans with an update on his health for some time.
Pusha T claimed 40 told him about Drake’s son, Adonis.
In 2018, Drake’s beef with Pusha T took a nasty turn. The feud between the rappers, which dates back to 2011, came to a head when Pusha dropped “The Story of Adidon," revealing that Drake fathered a secret lovechild.
Following the release of the track, theories about who leaked the information ran wild. Pusha later revealed that he got the information from a woman close to 40.
“40 is sleeping with a woman,” Pusha explained on The Joe Budden Podcast.
He continued: “And ultimately speaks about how he's disgruntled about certain things. With that also came the fact that Drake has a child. With that also came the trip that everybody took to go see the child and bring him gifts and all this information. She divulged this information.”
Drake previously suggested that Kanye West told Pusha about Adonis. However, Pusha rejects that theory.
