Born in Atlanta and raised in Nigeria, Davido emerged as a powerhouse in Afrobeats with his 2011 debut single "Dami Duro." The track's success catapulted him into the spotlight, marking the beginning of a remarkable career. His blend of catchy melodies and energetic performances quickly earned him a spot among the top artists in the genre.

However, despite his public success, Davido's personal life has been marked by challenges, including the loss of his mother as a child.

The singer has explained the heartbreaking details behind her cause of death and how he wishes she could've been here for this part of his life, his success.

What was Davido's mom's cause of death?

In a recent post, the Grammy-nominated singer honored his late mother, Veronica Adeleke.

"My mom was a baddie," he captioned the story.

Tragically, Davido's mom, Veronica Adeleke, passed away at just 39 years old due to a heart attack. What makes the death even more eerie is that she passed away on her husband's birthday.

According to The Sun, Adeleke was a Nigerian singer and university lecturer who founded Davido's band. Davido's mother passed away when he was only 10 years old, and he does not remember much about that time.

"I was about 10 to 11 years old when she died. She died on my father's birthday. Honestly, it was just cardiac arrest. Even if it was going to happen, I would not have known because I was about 10 or 11 years old. She was not really sick. She used to get sick once in a while, but it was nothing serious," he explained to Bounce Radio.

Davido said he would buy her houses and diamonds if his mother were alive today. He also named his first two daughters after his late mother — Aurora Imade Adeleke and Hailey Veronica Adeleke.

Who is Davido's father Adedeji Adeleke?

Adedeji Adeleke, Davido's father, is a prominent Nigerian businessman and philanthropist. He is the founder and chairman of Adeleke University and is well-respected in the business world. Due to his high-profile career, Davido wasn't close to his dad as a child. The singer was a mommy's boy because his dad was always busy.

Davido is also a newly married man.

On June 25, 2024, Davido married his long-term partner, Chioma Avril Rowland, a chef and internet personality. The two met in 2013, and it was love at first sight. Chioma has been a supportive partner, sharing Davido's professional and personal journey.

Davido and the celebrity chef have welcomed three of Davido's six children–Ifeanyi and twins Taiwo and Kehinde. However, the couple lost their son Ifeanyi in a drowning accident.

Who are Davido's children?

His first daughter, Imade, was born to Sophia Momodu. He also shares his second child, Hailey Adeleke, with Amanda, though details about Amanda are less public. In 2021, Davido welcomed another son with Larissa Yasmin Lorenco, a London-based makeup artist and DJ.
