During an exciting performance, the entertainer collapsed while showing his command on stage, and was later pronounced dead.

Born Isaac Freeman III, Fatman Scoop was from New York City’s Harlem neighborhood and began his career in 1992. It started to gain steam with his 1999 single, “Be Faithful,".

A few years later, in 2005, Fatman Scoop, alongside Missy Elliott and Ciara, won a Grammy Award for Best Music Video for "Lose Control."

The song was also nominated for Best Rap Song and earned him a Soul Train Music Award.

Proving he was not only in the industry for a long time, but was also there for a good time, he produced the wildly popular club hit, "It Takes Scoop" in 2008.

Fatman Scoop was multifaceted.

He was the most SAMPLED voice in music for years! During his career, Scoop also promoted many artists and had us ready to do it for Lil’ Saint after recording music for the blockbuster films like “You Got Served” and “Save the Last Dance”.

Beyond his music career, the rapper has made appearances on various TV shows. In 2004, he served as a music mentor on the UK TV show Chancers, and he also appeared on Celebrity Big Brother 16: UK vs. USA in 2015.

In 2007, he had a role on the animated television series The Boondocks, appearing as himself in Season 2, Episode 5, "The Story of Thugnificent" and Episode 15, "The Story of Gangstalicious Part 2".

In 2020, Fatman Scoop launched a podcast titled “Make Noise with Fatman Scoop,” where he engaged in conversations with celebrities such as Snoop Dogg, Charlamagne Tha God, Will.I.Am, and others.

The pandemic brought out the hustle in Scoop because his ability to tour as a hype man was obsolete forcing him to make a pivot in his career. He said during an August 2022 appearance on “The Project.”

“My job became nonexistent in an instant,” he said at the time. “I was on the road with Shaggy, Nelly, and a couple other people, and we had one last show. And then after that it was over.

Scoop took that opportunity to expand into different businesses including trucking, an ice cream company, and more.

Though his time on Earth is over, his voice lives on through music, and his presence with be missed.
