2024 is the year of rap beef. Eminem and Benzino kicked off the feud in January, dropping a pair of competing diss tracks. Weeks later, Chris Brown and Quavo ignited their years-long beef seemingly out of nowhere. The result was Chris’ “Weakest Link” track and Quavo’s response, “Over H**s & B****es.”

Things escalated when Kendrick and Drake started taking shots at each other.

Later, Future and Gunna stepped into the ring with a rap beef of their own.

Gunna is gearing up to release his fifth studio album, One of Wun, on May 10, and he has been heavily promoting the project. However, Future seemed to take issue with Gunna’s promotion. The “Mask Off” rapper took to Twitter to fire off a subtle shot at Gunna – sparking their feud.

Future and Gunna’s feud started over their release dates.

In a seemingly random turn of events, Future took a shot at Gunna on May 7. “F*** yo album. S**t ain’t slappin' like my mixtape,” Hendrix tweeted.

Future continued by revealing that his project was dropping on May 10, the same day as Gunna’s One of Wun – leaving many to believe that the tweet was indirectly targeted at “Pushin P” rapper.

Gunna caught wind of the tweet, and fired back at Future. “Turn this s**t [back] up, Notch,” Gunna tweeted in response, followed by another message that read, “F**k What These boys talkin' bout.” Following the exchange, hip-hop fans took to social media to share commentary about the beef.

“Don’t beef with Future [please.] You don’t have the star power for this one, Wunna. We love you, but if we had to choose a side? You’re going to be abandoned,” a fan asked, while another added, “Gunna vs Future, let’s have it. It’s about to be a movie.”

Future and Gunna were friends before their feud.

The beef between Future and Gunna may come as a surprise to some, as the rappers previously collaborated on numerous songs. Gunna joined Future for the 2019 song “Unicorn Purp,” which was featured on Future’s seventh studio album. Additionally, Future hopped on one of Gunna’s biggest songs, “Pushin P,” leaving fans to believe that the rappers were friends.

“You a lil late to the party, Unc,” one person tweeted. Another added, “Thug stepped on Gunnas first rollout, now Future bouta step on his second. Damn it, man.” And while some social media may be surprised by the dig, Future has previously hinted at a feud with the “Drip Too Hard” MC.

In March, Future shared a link to Gunna’s “Prada Dem” music video. However, he deleted the tweet shortly after. Future then shared a clip from his “Type Sh*t” song, where he raps about snitches.

“I don’t hang with rats, that’s some new type shit / Get a n***a whacked on the news type shit,” Hendrix raps.

Internet users swiftly inferred that Future was indirectly criticizing Gunna, who had recently agreed to a plea deal in the YSL RICO case linked to Young Thug.
