The Breakdown: The beef between Jim Jones and Cam'ron started during their days in The Diplomats, and it has seemingly never ended. The feud reignited in January 2025, with shots fired from all directions — including a jab from 50 Cent.
Since the 2000s, Jim Jones and Cam’ron have been beefin’ over various things. In 1997, the duo, alongside Freekey Zekey, founded The Diplomats. In 1999, Juelz Santana joined the crew, solidifying the lineup. The group's debut album, Diplomatic Immunity, dropped in 2003 under Roc-A-Fella Records.
Following internal disputes with Roc-A-Fella, Dipset transitioned to Koch Records (now MNRK Music Group) in 2004. That same year, they released Diplomatic Immunity 2 and were at the top of their fame.

Amid their success, internal tensions began to surface. A feud between Cam and Jim caused a rift between the group members, and they ultimately split ways. Here’s a look at what started their feud and failed attempts to reunite.
Jim Jones and Cam'ron's beef has been brewing for decades.
By 2007, things between Jim and Cam were shaky. According to Cam, the beef really began after he designed t-shirts reading, “Tricky Ricky AKA Jim Jones Is A Trick.” The phrase was a jab at Jim’s relationship with Chrissy Lampkin – though Cam later admitted he was “dead wrong” for the jab.
Later that year, Jim told radio personality Miss Jones that he had not communicated with Cam for a year.
“Me and Cam’ron haven’t spoken to each other in a year,” he said (per HipHopDX).
“I kept quiet out of loyalty; I felt like if we can’t be friends, then at least we can do business together … But now I can’t be next to you.”
The turning point came when Jim and Juelz appeared on stage with 50 Cent amid 50's feud with Cam'ron. This move was perceived as a betrayal, leading to a public fallout.
In a 2016 interview with Angie Martinez, Cam’ron futher detailed his problem with Jim – suggesting that they were never close friends.
“A lot of people be like ‘all y’all [Diplomats] grew up together,’ because of music. But realistically, I didn’t grow up with Jim [Jones]. We got cool right when the music was poppin’ off,” he said, adding, “I’m not sayin’ he wasn’t my man or nothin’, but business-wise, we grew as business partners together.”
The feud between Jim Jones and Cam'ron reignited in January 2025.
Despite the rift between the two former members, the allure of Dipset's legacy prompted attempts at reconciliation. In 2010, Cam'ron and Jim Jones publicly mended fences, releasing the track "Salute" and hinting at a full-fledged reunion. However, the reunion never happened, and the beef was reignited years later.
In December 2024, 50 Cent appeared on Cam’s talk show It Is What It Is, where they reminisced about their feud. They recounted the moment 50 invited Jim and Juelz on stage during a performance, a move that Cam perceived as a betrayal.
This conversation did not sit well with Jim, who felt slighted by the rappers. Jim later appeared on Justin Laboy's show Respectfully, and disputed Cam’s portrayal of events. Jim suggested that 50 and Cam were trying to undermine his contributions to Dipset.
In a subsequent episode of It Is What It Is, he refuted Jones' assertions, stating, "You wasn't there, n***a! We were super-duper popping in the street." He added: “You were fanned out, and you begged n****s to come to your house after you heard all these mixtapes. That’s how you got in.”
