Mister Cee’s cause of death is a mystery.

On April 10, the family of DJ Mister Cee confirmed to Hot 97 that the famed producer passed away. The radio station, which was home to Mister Cee’s Throwback at Noon show, then released a touching tribute to honor the DJ.

“Mr. Cee’s influence stretched far beyond the airwaves, shaping the very fabric of NYC’s DJ culture,” the statement read. “Our hearts are heavy as we send our love and condolences to his family and the fans whose lives he touched through his music.”

Mister Cee’s cause of death has not been revealed, but that has not stopped members of the hip-hop community from sharing tributes to the late entertainer online.

"R.I.P. to the legend Mr. Cee. God bless him, to all his family and friends — I send my condolences,” 50 Cent tweeted.

Peter Rosenberg, a radio personality at the station where Mister Cee worked, called the hip-hop mixer “one of the most important and impactful DJs of all time.”

Mister Cee also played an integral role in kickstarting Biggie’s career. He reportedly helped facilitate Biggie’s Bad Boy Records deal. The “Crush On You” rapper’s estate released a statement regarding Mister Cee’s death on April 10, paying tribute to the entertainer.

“The family of The Notorious B.I.G extend our deepest condolences and prayers to the family of our beloved brotha Calvin 'DJ Mister Cee' Lebrun on his transition," the post read. “He was a dear friend and mentor of B.I.G and an unwavering committed supporter of the family over the years of B.I.G’s transition. We Love and Salute you King.”
