Kamala Harris came out swinging, and she has the support of some of music's biggest acts. These rappers put their full support behind Harris.

The political landscape has shifted and more figures from the hip-hop community are using their influence to support various political leaders. Vice President Kamala Harris stands out as one such leader, garnering substantial backing from numerous rappers. Harris made history as the first female Vice President of the United States, as well as the first Black and South Asian person to hold the office.

On July 21, President Biden endorsed Harris after he announced his withdrawal from the 2024 presidential race.

“My fellow Democrats, I have decided not to accept the nomination and to focus all my energies on my duties as President for the remainder of my term,” Biden posted on X. “My very first decision as the party nominee in 2020 was to pick Kamala Harris as my Vice President. And it’s been the best decision I’ve made.”

Since her presumptive ascension to the top of the Democratic ticket, Harris has received a ton of support. Here is a list of the most prominent figures in hip-hop who have voiced their endorsement for the political candidate.

Common actively advocates for social justice and political equality. The rapper has spoken at various events to endorse the Democratic Party, reiterating his support for their cause. In September 2023, Common attended Harris’ 50th anniversary of hip-hop celebration hosted at the White House, per Billboard.

Questlove, the drummer and frontman of The Roots, quickly showed his support for Kamala Harris after Joe Biden stepped back from the presidential race.

“I know the future I want for myself and my loved ones and the world,” the musician wrote on Instagram. “That future does not just hand the keys over to a twice impeached, multiple convicted, sexist, racist, insurrectionist (this list is way longer, but I’m not doing the 'lesser of two game.)”

Lil Nas X wasted no time throwing his support behind Kamala Harris. Moments after Biden endorsed Harris for president, Nas X made his political stance known.

“Lock in lil bro! @KamalaHarris,” the “Old Town Road” rapper tweeted. The subtle remark was a clear indication that Nas X was standing behind Harris’ campaign.

One of Kamala Harris's most vocal supporters is Cardi B. During the 2020 election, Cardi B publicly endorsed Joe Biden and Harris, but she’s now thrown her full support behind the vice president. Cardi has since defended Harris against attacks about her dating history after images of the politician and Montel Williams resurfaced online, per Page Six.

“What does Kamala Harris' husband or relationships have to do with her credentials? Do y’all hire people based on who they f--king??” Cardi tweeted.

The song has also been featured in advertisements for Harris, further proving where Beyoncé’s political allegiance lies.
