Many relationships are roller coasters, and the one between Chance the Rapper and his wife, Kirsten Corley, is no different.

Full of ups, downs, whirlwinds, and quickstops the couple managed to have a marriage that lasted five years. They announced their divorce in April 2024.

The pair started as childhood sweethearts and are ending as co-parents to two adorable daughters.

2003 — Love at first sight during childhood.

On Twitter, Chance the Rapper shared how he met his wife at one of his mom's office parties when he was just 9 years old.

"I was probably playing a Gameboy in a corner or eating candy, initially unimpressed by my surroundings but THEN ... out of nowhere, we were all told to make room, to spread out and make a circle for a presentation... Now I'm locking eyes with the prettiest girl i ever seen in my almost-a-decade of life on Earth."

2013 — Chance the Rapper spun the block and started their relationship.

The two reconnected and started dating in 2013 though they kept the details relatively private at the time. They bumped into each other one year prior at a South by Southwest concert.

2015 — Kirsten and Chance the Rapper welcome their first daughter.

Chance excitedly announced on Instagram in July 2015 that the two were expecting a child together. In September, two months following his initial post, the proud papa let the world know that his baby girl Kelsi.

2016 — Chance the Rapper and Kirsten broke up just to make up.

Though their first daughter Kensli was born 5 months prior, in February 2016 the couple called it quits. Not only was the relationship ending Kirsten took matters into court filing for sole custody of thier baby girl explaining that the child lived solely with her.

After declaring Chance as Kensli’s father, she requested that he be put on child support and also that he pay her attorney fees.

According to the Chicago Tribune, the two agreed to a parenting plan that would require them to live with each other. However, as they were in the process of establishing separate residences, they sought out a parental schedule through the courts.

Though the process of splitting up proved to be tumultuous, by March 2017 the couple put aside their differences and reconciled.

2018 — The two love birds got engaged.

A child and a breakup later, the two decided that they wanted to stay together through the ups and downs for eternity. After 5 years, Chance got on one knee and proposed to Kirsten.

She said yes, and he ran to Twitter to confirm their engagement in July of that year.

2019— Chance The Rapper and Kirsten tied the knot and welcomed another daughter to their family.

Though the official wedding celebration happened on March 9th, 2019, the couple could not hold their horses and snuck to city hall a few months before marrying each other.

According to The Chicago Tribune, the rapper married his longtime girlfriend just a few months after getting engaged on Dec. 27, 2018.

Only a few weeks after their wedding, Chance went to his Instagram to announce that the couple was expecting another child. In March 2019 it was thought that the baby was expected to arrive in September of that year, but Marli arrived a little early being born in August 2019.

2024 — Done for good: the couple filed for divorce.

Though the two had been separated for a while, they did not come back together to reconcile their differences like in the past. Instead, in April of 2024 they decided to call it quits for good and announce that they would be divorcing.

"After a period of separation, the two of us have arrived at the decision to part ways," Chance wrote on Instagram. "We came to this decision amicably and with gratitude for the time we spent together."

He continued, "God has blessed us with two beautiful daughters who we will continue to raise together."
