Discover Proudly Amplifies Diverse Voices

We are elevating our skincare game with products tailored to the unique skin care needs of black men. From addressing specific concerns to celebrating diverse skin tones, a new wave of skincare products is making waves in the industry.

Even rappers are getting in on the trend. A$AP Rocky gloated about his skincare routine during a sit-down with The Sunday Times. The “Good for You,” MC explained that he used a mix of Gucci Beauty and Fenty products to maintain his clear skin.

As more brands embrace inclusivity and formulate products with the needs of black men in mind, it can sometimes be difficult to determine which items are best for you.

The self-care space has evolved into a world where every man can confidently care for his skin. While there’s no quick fix in the self-care industry, the following products can make a huge difference for men of color.

Buttah Skincare's unique approach to men's grooming has carved a niche in the industry. Founded by television personality Dorion Renaud, Buttah carries an assortment of products specifically designed for Black skin.

At the core of Buttah's success is its signature Shea-Coco blend, a luxurious fusion of raw shea butter and virgin coconut oil. Buttah has become a noteworthy player in the industry, offering products that tackle hyperpigmentation, dry skin, and blemishes.

Vitamin C Serum from Hyper Skin

As a company that is largely known for simplifying skin care, Hyper is ahead of the game. Hyper promises to deliver “hyper-balanced” products that are gentle but effective. The company sells three items: a Brightening Dark Spot Vitamin C Serum, an Even Gentle Brightening Cleansing Gel, and an Even Fade and Glow AHA Mask.

Products range in price, with some starting as low as $28.

For men with facial hair, skin care can be a bit tricky. Aaron Wallace’s products were designed for this, as they combine topical skin treatments with essential oils for beard care.

They offer a $121 full-service beard care package that includes seven different products — hydrating shampoo, conditioner, shave gel, and oil that can be used to maintain facial hair while the exfoliating cleanser and moisturizer help keep the skin healthy.

Cleanser Pack from Ceylon

Ceylon creates products that address hyperpigmentation, acne, and razor bumps – three skin conditions that are common among black men.

Patrick Boateng created the company after struggling to find solutions for his own facial blemishes.

“My experience of not having simple, scientifically-backed options for my skin really formed the core of the brand,” he told Cosmo Prof. “It felt like we needed a brand that could speak to our community in an open, thoughtful, and interesting way, allowing for an organic and inclusive culture to develop.”

The line offers a cleanser pack that includes three products that work in combination. The pack contains a facial wash, acid cleanser, and body wash. The complete set can be purchased for $90.
