Four years after the release of 3.15.20, Donald Glover – also known as Childish Gambino – is gearing up to release new music. TMZ caught up with the entertainer in December of 2023, and he revealed that he would be dropping a new project “soon.”

Since the release of his fourth studio album, Donald has spent more time focusing on his film and television projects.

In addition to appearing in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and Adventure Time: Fionna & Cake, Donald served as the executive producer for the hit show Swarm. He is also set to star in the reimagined Mr. & Mrs. Smith series on Amazon Prime, which premieres in February 2024.

But Gambino fans want Donald back in the studio. News of a fifth album sparked a frenzy online as fans of the musician prepared for another groundbreaking addition to his discography.

He also shut down retirement rumors despite previously claiming he would step away from music.

In a 2017 interview with HuffPost, Donald suggested that he would only release three albums under the Gambino persona as he thought that would be a fitting way to conclude his music journey.

“There’s nothing worse than like a third sequel, like a third movie and we’re like, ‘Again?'” he said. Thankfully, he changed his mind, and fans can expect a new album soon.

No word yet on which of his fellow artists Donald will tap for the new project, but the possibilities are endless. He previously worked with Chance the Rapper, Jhené Aiko, Lil Wayne, and Latto.
