Dawson shared the inspiration behind the disc in an interview with Billboard.

"This album, I was having a really hard time toting a line that I was trying to create for myself. I wanted to use myself as a conduit to talk about something bigger than myself. Imagine writing a novel about yourself, without once saying your own name," the artist shared,

What can fans expect from the Jean Dawson x SZA collaboration?

SZA and Jean Dawson's highly-anticipated joint single is entitled "NO SZNS." Co-penned by the dynamic duo, the song is a stripped-back, introspective collaboration characterized by dreamy electric guitar melodies and lyrics that delve into a myriad of emotions.

“In the spring, you can’t hear a thing / All the birds and bees, nobody thinks," the pair sings in the chorus. "In the summertime people off the brink / In California, we ain’t got no seasons, it’s all the same to me."

Speaking to Rolling Stone, Dawson explained how the collab helped him "understand how one thing can be communicated multiple ways without the idea collapsing on itself with the weight of how complex the message could be.”

He added: “The way she communicates is profound and honest. She is the songbird of our generation and I love her to death.”

What are SZA's most successful collaborations to date?

SZA's recent collaboration with Jean Dawson is a noteworthy addition to her growing list of successful musical partnerships — which just keeps on growing.
