Metro Boomin’s career has been marked with amazing collaborative albums with artists like 21 Savage and Offset, but that doesn’t mean his solo albums haven’t also been celebrated as astounding works.
After works like Not All Heroes Wear Capes, Savage Mode II, and We Don’t Trust You, the producer has made a name for himself as a juggernaut. From beef with Drake to being featured in an animated movie, the St. Louis-born musician hasn’t missed and has proven himself to have longevity.
What is the ‘Metroverse’ comic book series? Here's everything we know so far!
The Metroverse is an all-new comic book series created by Metro Boomin. In it, the producer puts a new twist on his journey as a musician tangled in the complicated music industry.
Metro Boomin (he uses the same alias for his character in the comics) is a musician tempted by a villain known as The Suit, a music mogul who controls the city’s criminals. Once Metro realizes that the villain has bad intentions, he stands in The Suit’s way with his powers — super strength and speed — and magical amulet.
The first edition of The Metroverse (The Rise #1) was released June 14th in collaboration with Joshua Frankel, former owner of Z2 comics and current CEO of Zero Zero. The Rise #1 was limited to only four thousand copies with an additional three hundred copies of a signed edition, including a variant cover. Vasilis Lolos illustrated the original cover, and the alternate was created by Vincent Kings.
Metro Boomin held an immersive pop-up event in LA in collaboration with Complex the day before the comic’s release, and gifted fans signed copies of the limited edition. With all the excitement around just his first edition of the comic, fans can anticipate even more greatness as the concept grows into volumes.
Exploring Metro Boomin’s journey through the comic book world.
Before releasing his comic book, Metro Boomin has had a proven relationship with comics and superheroes. His album for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse dropped three days prior to the film's release. The producer was even given a cameo in the animated film.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, he said: “It’s a dream come true to have my own comic book on shelves.”
With his consistent theme of superheroes and villains in his discography (including Heroes & Villains and Not All Heroes Wear Capes), it comes as no surprise that the “Like That” producer would pursue this new venture.
