Rapper Romeo Miller — son of legendary rap star Master P — has opened up about his recovery journey following a severe car accident in early 2024. The actor and musician shared details of the incident and his healing process. Romeo revealed that he had to undergo medical procedures due to injuries sustained in the accident, which significantly impacted his daily life and activities.
In his heartfelt Instagram message, Romeo reflected on his initial goals for the year, which included achieving peak physical fitness. However, he acknowledged that the accident and subsequent recovery had taught him valuable lessons about strength and patience.
“My New Year's resolution prayer was this, 'God, I’m ready to become my strongest. This year I will be in my best physical shape,'” Romeo wrote on Instagram, adding, “The first few weeks started off with a bang! And then I was involved in a horrific car accident on the freeway.”
Romeo shared a video that contained clips from his healing process, which included months of rehabilitation. Here is an update on Romeo’s health journey.
Romeo suffered severe neck and spinal injuries.
Romeo is on the mend after a frightening car accident left him severely injured. On May 1, Romeo revealed that he was involved in a car crash in January.
“My head injuries made everything difficult, but after my successful neck/spinal procedures and clearance to get back to my active life,” he explained. “I realized that what I prayed for going into the new year wasn’t what I needed, but what I selfishly wanted.”
The actor went on to emphasize that the healing process has been extensive, requiring months of rehabilitation. This journey has been challenging, but the “My Baby” MC expressed gratitude for the support from his family and friends.
Romeo said that his recovery has been lengthy, and he has been taking the necessary time to heal properly. In the clip, Romeo is seen biking, swimming, and playing basketball as he slowly returns to health.
Romeo further detailed his recovery via Instagram Story. On May 13, he posted a photo of his injured back alongside a note that revealed that he was unable to walk for some time.
“After not being able to walk this past weekend,” the rapper wrote (per People). “Back to get spinal/neck work. [I] thought I was done with procedures but was assured this healing process of getting a fully healthy neck and back after my accident will be a marathon.”
Romeo’s daughter is also battling health challenges.
Romeo’s health update comes amid other personal challenges for the former child star, including his eldest daughter — River Rose — recent diagnosis of Type 1 diabetes.
He took to social media in November 2023 to reveal River’s diagnosis, hoping to raise awareness and support for the condition.
“We’ve kept things private, but my daughter is one of the younger cases to be diagnosed with T1D,” the rapper wrote. “Type 1 diabetes is a chronic (life-long) autoimmune disease that prevents your pancreas from making insulin.”
The Miller family has since created an Instagram account dedicated to sharing resources with parents of sick children.
