Swedish Rapper C Gambino Dies in Gothenburg: Details Emerge About His Cause of Death

Swedish rapper C. Gambino was involved in a tragic incident in a parking garage. What was his cause of death? Here's what you should know.

The Swedish hip-hop community is mourning the loss of award-winning rapper C Gambino, who was tragically killed in a suspected gang-related shooting. C Gambino was renowned for his distinctive style, which earned him a Swedish Grammi for Best Hip-Hop Artist in 2023.

Known for keeping his identity hidden and wearing a mask in public, he had a significant following, with nearly one million monthly listeners on Spotify, per Music Metrics Vault.

The MC was considered a prominent figure in Swedish hip-hop. Rap specialist Petter Hallen described his loss as a significant blow to the Gothenburg rap scene and beyond.

“What's even more tragic is that he had recently moved away from just the dark criminal stuff, towards more expressions of relationships and feelings,” Petter told News Agency TT (via News24).

Police have made arrests in connection with C. Gambino’s death.

Authorities have arrested two suspects believed to be connected to the murder, although the investigation is still ongoing (Reuters).

“Prosecutors have arrested two people on probable cause suspected of aiding and abetting the murder,” read a statement. Gambino was in a public parking lot when the shooting occurred, with the shooters ambushing the rapper before he could leave. Gambino was shot multiple times and was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Swedish officers believe that Gambino, who was reportedly “known to police,” was killed as a result of a “gang conflict.” Expressen reports that police raided a Gothenburg home in connection to the crime, bringing in multiple people for questioning.

Additionally, officers are searching for a silver Volvo believed to have been involved in the shooting. Surveillance footage from the incident reveals at least six bullet holes in the vehicle, indicating a significant amount of gunfire.

“We are working on taking in witness information from as many as we can and are working further with the technical investigation,” police spokesperson Annika Laag, said in a statement. The suspects detained in connection with the shooting have not been formally charged.

Fans of C. Gambino mourned the rapper on social media.

C. Gambino, whose real name is Karar Ramadan, built an impressive following during his time as an artist. He had over 90,000 followers on Instagram, where he regularly shared moments from his life.

Days before his death, Gambino released a single titled “Sista Gang (Last Time),” leading some to believe the rapper was preparing to drop a new album. Following Gambino’s passing, his fans shared heartfelt tributes, reflecting on his significant impact on the Swedish music scene and the profound sense of loss they felt.

“Forever missing. My whole family is grieving, even [my] parents. No one knew you did so much good for others,” one person wrote.

Another added: “Never been so sad when a rapper died, but through all time Gambino has been a favorite. Grateful for all the years you have been in our lives. Your music has helped.”
