NFL star Jalen Hurts keeps his personal life pretty private, sharing none of it through social media. However, the Philadelphia Eagles quarterback was spotted in an exclusive ESSENCE interview with his soon-to-be wife Bryonna Burrows.
Seeing as how the relationship has been kept so private, the proposal comes as a surprise to some. Jalen and Bry had given spectators some signs before the high-profile announcement though.
Jalen Hurts and Bry Burrows Relationship Timeline: How’d They Meet?
The star couple met during Jalen’s time as the star quarterback at the University of Alabama. Sometime between his breakout rookie season and being benched for now-Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa his junior year, Jalen was able to connect with Bry.
It seems that even through all of Jalen’s problems with his depth position, he was able to find Black love.
While neither has told the official story of how they met, the two likely met through Divine Nine Greek life activities on the PWI campus, as Jalen is a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. and Bry is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
The two dated on and off during their time at Alabama between 2016 and 2019, eventually making things public in 2023.
Happily Ever After College
Jalen and Bry’s relationship is nowhere near new, but Jalen and his now-fiancée have only made three public appearances before the release of their engagement photos.
Not only does the former Sooner keep his personal life under wraps, but so does his long-time partner.
The first was after Jalen and the Eagles won the 2023 NFC Championship game when Bry rushed to the field in support of her boyfriend.
Their second appearance together came later the same year on the red carpet at the TIME100 Next Gala.
The last was in São Paulo for the Eagles’ first season win in the NFL’s first-ever Brazilian international game. This is where speculation began amongst fans about the couple’s engagement before photos came out.
So, who is Bry Burrows?
Jalen Hurts has made a name for himself in the NFL as one of the league’s premiere Black quarterbacks, but since Bry isn’t a celebrity not much is known about her. Fans know that she attended Alabama with the Eagles QB1, but what else?
Bryonna “Bry” Rivera Burrows spent her time at the University of Alabama obtaining not only her BASc in Spanish and Political Science but went back to grad school for her MBA as well.
According to her LinkedIn profile, since graduating she’s been working for IT giant IBM in various roles, moving up in ranks alike her star-studded fiancé.
There have been no more announcements about a wedding or the future of the couple, but it's safe to assume things will be kept under wraps until the time comes.
