In August 2022, the former football star was arrested for a suspected DUI in Las Vegas. According to a report obtained by Fox 5 Vegas, police discovered Marshawn asleep at the wheel. Officers believe that the athlete may have been involved in an accident before emergency services arrived as his car had “significant damage with no rim or tire on the driver’s side front wheel with dents and dings on the rear driver’s side.”

Marshawn was ultimately charged with driving under the influence, failing to drive in a travel lane, and driving an unregistered vehicle. However, he has since accepted a plea deal that will allow him to avoid jail time.

“Mr. Lynch has not been convicted of any offense at this time,” his attorneys wrote in a statement (per Las Vegas Review-Journal. “He has agreed to complete certain requirements which will result in this case being closed as a reckless driving traffic offense.

The deal requires the former NFL running back to enroll in DUI classes and perform at least 200 hours of community service. Marshawn will also be required to undergo an alcohol evaluation, complete a victim impact panel, and pay a $1,140 fine. Additionally, Marshawn was ordered to avoid any run-ins with the law for an entire year.
