According to Diverse Education, Anne Arundel Community College in Maryland previously disinvited him from a scheduled event after students raised concerns about his anti-gay rhetoric.

Anisa has taken to social media platforms, including TikTok and Instagram, accusing the educator of being an absentee father throughout her life. Anisa went on to suggest she was reaching out to her dad because she was attempting to locate one of her siblings. Dr. Umar responded to these allegations by dismissing them as attempts to gain attention. He referred to Anisa's actions as "clout chasing," suggesting that she is seeking notoriety by associating herself with his name.

Dr. Umar did not respond to the allegations directly. However, he went live on social media to encourage his followers to “pick a side” amid the family feud. “Don’t let the evil take us. If you with me, you with me,” he said. “If you ain’t, you ain’t. I’m not begging nobody … The only thing good coming out of this unfortunate situation is everybody gotta pick a side. Pick a side and stay on it. Please stay on your side. No more frenemies.”
