Burna Boy has been in the music industry for over a decade now. That being said, he is known for putting his heart and soul into his music. The artist spoke with NPR and shared his views on the music he creates.

He said, "Everything I'm — if you ever heard my voice on it, then you're hearing my heart. I don't make that type of music that you can pick a favorite. You know, this is the one. Oh, this is the — no. Everything is a part of my soul and a part of my being and a part of my experiences in life."

Even though Burna Boy is a very successful artist, the categories he's nominated in this year have a very impressive lineup to compete with. For example, for Album Of The Year, he's up against several popular artists like Rema and Asake. There is also a lot of competition when it comes to the International Artist of the Year category. Pop artist Selena Gomez, rapper Drake, and singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran are all in the running.

If you don't see a lot of American artists nominated for the 2023 Headies Awards, it's probably because they are not the main focus of the annual honors.

The Headies specifically highlight Nigerian artists who have worked hard in the music industry. But, when they do collaborations with international artists, those artists are also considered for an award.

The 2023 Headies Awards are officially set to take place in Atlanta, Georgia. Will Burna Boy be able to take home all 10 awards from the categories he's nominated in? Only time will tell.
