The Breakdown: Comedian Haha Davis was arrested in May 2025. The comic, who got his start on social media and has grown his career to live shows, celebrity endorsements, and business ventures, was charged with domestic violence.
In its prime, the now-defunct video app Vine spawned a whole class of online comedians. Few had the talent and focus to translate their success on the platform into a long-lasting career. Haha Davis has managed to do just that, building a massive social media following across his accounts and landing live shows and collabs with celebrities.
But the Detroit-born comic is now facing serious allegations that are no laughing matter. Here’s what we know about Haha Davis’s arrest, plus a look into his journey from social media comic to big stage comedian.
Why was Haha Davis arrested?
On May 23, 2025, Carlos “Haha” Davis was arrested in Utica, Michigan. Fox 2 Detroit reported that the comedian was booked into the Macomb County Jail on allegations of domestic violence. Davis was quickly released after posting a $5,000 surety bond.
There has been little other information provided about the charges Davis faces. No victims have been named, and the circumstances of the incident that led to the allegations have not been publicized.
Davis hasn’t made an official statement but seemed to address the allegations on Instagram.
A few days after his arrest, Davis’s supposed girlfriend, Melly, shared a video of the pair on a plane. In the caption, she seemed to speak to the allegations against Davis. “Only thing we do domestic is flights,” she wrote. The same video and caption had previously been posted to Davis’s account but appears to have since been deleted.
Fans in the comments had mixed reactions to the post. Some believe the video to be “damage control,” while others expressed relief that Davis hadn’t abused Melly. However, it’s important to note that the victim was not named, and as one commenter correctly pointed out, “domestic abuse doesn’t always mean significant other.”
Davis himself has not directly addressed the incident. He has yet to release a PR or legal statement on his social platforms or anywhere else. However, while an Instagram post is far from an official message, Melly’s video seems to suggest that Davis considers the accusations unfounded.
The allegations come in the midst of Davis’s ever-growing comedy career.
Davis has been steadily building his comedy resume since his Vine days, with his character sketches and signature catchphrase, “Dis finna be a breeze.” Davis took his talent on the road with a solo comedy tour in early 2025. On the night of his arrest, Davis was also meant to be on stage as part of the We Them Ones comedy tour alongside Mike Epps, DC Young Fly, Kountry Wayne, and Lil Duval.
Beyond social media and live performances, Davis has also expanded into other forms of media, including a comic book titled Beyond Me and launched an episode of his show D-Boy on Comedy Central’s digital platform, racking up two million views.
The comedian has also earned some noteworthy endorsements and collaborations. Davis was featured on Chance the Rapper’s Coloring Book, in music videos with Snoop Dogg and Lil Nas X, and as a character in NBA 2K18.
