Snoop Dogg and Donald Trump are two names the average person would not think to mention in the same sentence.
However, as of late, the entrepreneur, TV personality, and former President has been rather friendly with the "Drop It Like It's Hot" rapper.
But don't get it twisted, the relationship between the two has not always been so peachy.
Here is a timeline of Snoop Dogg’s and Trump’s friendship.
The two stars were a match for television success in 2007.
Back in 2007, in the simpler times of reality television, Snoop Dogg appeared on Trump’s TV show The Apprentice, where the two got to form somewhat of a bond.
Snoop allowed the winner of the Season 6 episode to rap alongside him. At the time, the two seemed to have a great working relationship while Trump beamed:
“You know Snoop Dogg?” He’s the greatest," Soon after naming him, “One of the nation’s best-selling hip-hop artists.”
There was a thin line between love and hate between the two stars in 2011.
Snoop Dogg went from taking in admiration and compliments from Trump to cracking jokes while participating in Comedy Centrals: Roast of Donald Trump in 2011.
Snoop did not take it easy on him, poking fun at the soon-to-be President, running as a Republican nominee after Obama's tenure in the White House. Snoop joked:
"Donald's saying he wants to run for president and move into the White House. Why not?" Snoop told the audience. "It wouldn't be the first time you've pushed a Black family out of their home."
Snoop Dogg publicly stood against Donald Trump during the Presidential election in 2016.
On Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live, Snoop Dogg gave more than his two cents on the election as a long-time supporter of Hilary Clinton. He was excited at the prospect of having a woman run the country and shared:
“And just to have a woman speaking from a global perspective as far as representing America, I’d love to see that. So I’ll be voting for Mrs. Clinton.”
Snoop Dogg was pissed that Donald Trump won the election in January 2017.
The rapper was so repulsed, that he jokingly hit up Drake so that he could flee to Candia instead of living in a country in which Trump governed.
Snoop took to social media often to vent about the current circumstances of the country and went as far as calling any Black person who supported Trump at his inauguration a "jigaboo."
The Rapper turned his frustration and disgust with Trump into artistic expression.
In March 2017 Snoop dropped the music video to his remixed song “Lavender” which ruffled many feathers. Trump was outraged that a gun was pointed at him in the video, taking to X (formerly Twitter) to shed light on what he considered hypocrisy:
“Can you imagine what the outcry would be if @SnoopDogg, failing career and all, had aimed and fired the gun at President Obama?” Trump tweeted. “Jail time!”
After much controversy and condemnation by Trump supporters, Snoop Dogg remained unapologetic about his stance and at the same time, refused to comment further on the video.
Donald Trump decided to pardon one of Snoop Dogg's friends in January 2021.
Death Row Records co-founder Michael “Harry-O” made the cut for Trump's last-minute grant of clemency. Harris served 30 years of a 25-to-life sentence for conspiracy to commit first-degree murder before Trump decided to pardon him.
Suddenly, and understandably, the once vocal critic of Trump shared words of gratitude toward Trump. He explained on a call with The New York Post:
“That’s great work for the president and his team on the way out. They did some great work while they was in there and they did some great work on their way out. Let them know that I love what they did.”
Snoop Dogg and Trump seemed to have squashed their beef in January 2024
When interviewed by The Sunday Times while being asked about his current views on Donald Trump, Snoop Dogg replied "Donald Trump? He ain't done nothing wrong to me," Snoop Dogg told the British outlet.
"He has done only great things for me. He pardoned Michael Harris."
The rapper seems to have let all of the spite go like water under the bridge, after helping him reunite with a longtime friend.
"I have nothing but love and respect for Donald Trump," Snoop Dogg said.
