R&B trio Tony! Toni! Toné! has experienced both triumph and tragedy during their time in the spotlight. The group consisted of brothers D’Wayne Wiggins and Charles Ray Wiggins (known professionally as Raphael Saadiq), along with their cousin Timothy Christian Riley. They rose to fame in the late 1980s and early 1990s with hits like Feels Good, Anniversary, and It Never Rains (In Southern California).

Following their initial success, the group split in 1997, with members embarking on individual projects. After more than two decades, Tony! Toni! Toné! reunited in 2023 for the "Just Me and You" tour, celebrating the 30th anniversary of Sons of Soul. This reunion allowed fans to relive the group's classic hits and introduced their music to a new generation. “The reunion shows meant everything to me. They were beautiful,” Raphael told The San Francisco Chronicle.

However, a member of the group has since passed away, leaving fans curious about the other members of Tony! Toni! Toné! Here is a look at what happened to the group following their rise to fame and eventual breakup.

D'Wayne Wiggins

D'Wayne Wiggins, a founding member known for his guitar skills and vocals, passed away on March 7, 2025, at the age of 64, after a private battle with bladder cancer, according to Entertainment Weekly. "With broken hearts, we share with you that our beloved D’Wayne passed away this morning surrounded by family and loved ones," the Wiggins family said in a statement.

In addition to being a part of Tony! Toni! Toné!, Dwayne played an integral part in nurturing other talent during his time. He established Grass Roots Entertainment and the House of Music recording studio in West Oakland, where he mentored Destiny's Child, Keyshia Cole, and Alicia Keys.

Raphael Saadiq

After the group's initial disbandment in 1996, Raphael Saadiq wasted no time building a solo career. In 2002, he released his debut solo album, Instant Vintage, which underperformed commercially, leading to his departure from Universal Records. However, he continued to drop albums, and his hard work paid off. The singer has since received multiple Grammy nominations and three wins.

He also contributed to projects by D'Angelo, Mary J. Blige, and John Legend. He recently collaborated with Beyoncé on her 2022 album Renaissance and her 2024 release Cowboy Carter – which earned him his third Grammy.

Timothy Christian Riley

After Tony! Toni! Toné!'s hiatus, Timothy Christian Riley remained active in the music scene. He played on tracks for Will Smith and Alicia Keys. Timothy’s music also appeared in the 1996 comedy High School High, and a slate of other television shows, per IMDb. He played on songs that were featured in HBO’s Insecure and the hit FX show Pose.
